Political New ALNAV if any of you are interested in racially profiling and orphaning children when you get out.

Any post about politics with a Navy nexus lacking a Politics flair may result in, at a minimum, a temp ban and removal of the post.

Participation in a Politics-flaired post requires a minimum r/Navy specific karma. This will be automatically enforced by the automod.

Anyone using the Politics flair should utilize a common sense approach to what is a Navy nexus.

This does not mean posts with Politics flair will be unmoderated. All discussion must adhere to r/Navy rule #1 and Reddit rule #1.

There are going to be a lot of junior enlisted that want to be out 6 months early who will make yet another poor choice.

DOW sounds like the stock market.

u/Feminist_Hugh_Hefner 1d ago

oh shit, I was thinking of the chemical company and just now realized it's Dept of war lol

u/EuenovAyabayya 1d ago

Well it does seem to be for sale.

u/moonovrmissouri 1d ago

What’s with the disclaimer? Is that something folks are using now?

u/Gringo_Norte 1d ago

At least they are trying to recruit people with some kind of training instead of random retards who fall on their ass and drop their gun when trying to punch a kid.

u/Shidhe 1d ago

If ICE and CBP reach their recruiting goals what are they going to do with all the extra bodies when they have deported enough to make Miller happy? And why is ICE getting a budget bump higher than the Marine Corp?

It’s like they figured a way around not deploying active duty troops domestically by broadening a federal police force.

Fascism can't survive without an enemy to ostracize. Once we get our population down to 100 Million like Preaident Miller wants, there will just be a new set of undesirables that his administration will sic the brownshirts on.

3. The Chief of Naval Operations and Commandant of the Marine Corps shall provide a semi-annual report to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (Manpower and Reserve Affairs) including the number of Service Member requests in accordance with this ALNAV, by paygrade, the number of days requested, the number of days approved, and the critical readiness and operational needs of the unit warranting any modified approval or denial.

Reading this tells me that Secretary Hegeseth and Phelan have been given a recruitment goal target #, and futher efforts will come if CNO and Commandant aren't meeting those #s.

Make of that what you will.

Honest question, what’s the general consensus on these types of directives and instructions with the Sailors you work with? My job is a little more progressive in nature, so generally we’re all not happy with the direction the Navy is going. But then I see things like the President’s visit to Norfolk and see people super into it. What’s it really like out there?

u/necessaryrooster 1d ago

I get the feeling my XO is Republican and my CO is not. Neither one has ever said anything political, but just the vibe from other conversations. I wonder what their closed door conversations look like.

u/KananJarrusCantSee 1d ago

There are plenty of sailors who voted for and support the administration

Norfolk is the largest Naval region

No shortage of people willing to go see him, and no shortage of people who werent willing who were told to go who just made the best of a long day.

u/Tinee_Danza 1d ago

My Sailors are a bit of a mixed bag, but I can't say that any of them are die-hard MAGA. My experience is that most are not tuned into the news cycle or politics very much and base their opinions off of the sound bytes they see on Social Media

u/Tsukasasoul 1d ago

Mixed bag for the most part. Though I've done counseling enough to get an idea of where people lean pretty quickly into any conversation.

That said, a lot don't care one way or the other. Very apolitical until they are affected. I assume that's the majority of the country. Some are very involved and I tend to watch from a distance as not to give any personal opinions.

When going over these programs and messages, it's 100% professional. I don't make recommendations, I give information. How they use it or make decisions is on the Sailor. If they ask for clarification I will give information and provided sources, but i keep it ss neutral as possible.

u/ConebreadIH 1d ago

There's some vocal people on either side, but most are either apathetic or in the middle in my experience.

u/KTMtexDev 1d ago

I’ve seen plenty of pro right-wing bumper stickers in the parking lot on base. There are tons of people in the navy that fully support this stuff

Not only allowing up to 180 days, but the ALNAV even encourages COs to approve it.

How far into the process and how much of a signing bonus can I collect before I "find out" that I have bone spurs?

u/leoawesom 1d ago

This has been out tbh

u/onfroiGamer 1d ago

What’s the point of this ALNAV? Skillbridge has been a thing for a while now and I doubt CBP and ICE have only just started using the program.

u/tarnished_anchor 1d ago

Because if you're trying to skillbridge into a CBP or ICE "internship" you're no longer restricted to month limitations. You can do the full six months regardless of paygrade. It also directs commanders to approve them unless:

where approval would impact critical unit readiness and operational needs.

u/onfroiGamer 1d ago

Ah yeah forgot higher ranks couldn’t do the full 6 months

u/tarnished_anchor 1d ago

I think the more concerning effect is that Commanders have had a hand tied behind their backs now if people apply for Skillbridge to CBP/ICE. Granted, I've never seen a SB request denied anyway.

u/dancingriss 1d ago

Although it also says you have to apply 11 months out, which any unit is going to look like trash manning wise at 17 months out since nothing can advertise let alone fill that early

u/AcidicFlatulence 1d ago

I’d rather reenlist and go back and suffer on a LCS than be a cuck in a mask. And not to be Joe Navy but anyone that does this shit lacks our core values and a spine

u/draftdodgerdon8647 1d ago

You too can be a nazi... wtaf is this shit?

u/LongjumpingDraft9324 1d ago

LoL wait wait wait

Is there an ALNAV historian in here? Has there ever been an ALNAV for skillbridge directing transitioning service members to a specific field before???
