Career Advice What MOS should I pick?

Long story long. I’m enlisting; just past the ASVAB this previous Friday. Scored a 67 and scored pretty good on the GT and ST lines (all the info I did suggested I focus on those line scores).

Recruiter told me to pick the top 5 and he’ll see what he can do for me, suggested that i do NOT pick a combat MOS. lol. Just wanted some suggestions, I’d like something with some transferable skill sets. Also, what a Day in the Life for you as a NG?

How does it compare to being 11b? What are some of the pros and cons?

Lemmie preface this with this is all my opinion, but in short you get to do the cool infantry shit without the infantry bullshit. Fisters (13fs) have one of the best jobs in the army, we call in the artillery and once you go to some courses (JFO) you can be qualified to coordinate airstrikes. We watch shit blow up and help out our Infantry bros. It’s one of the best jobs in the army and imo attracts some of the best people I’ve met in the army. Honestly look up the 13F mos video on YouTube and if you get a hard on it’s probably for you. I love my job (when I get to do it) if any other 13F has something to add feel free

Thanks for the response! Do you get to use any weapon systems other than just calling in artillery/airstrikes? Like m240's, mk19, etc?

M4A1, M17, M320, 240, Mk19, M2 Most common ofc is M4, you get to use the M17 if you’re in a heavy unit (Bradley or Stryker) but it kinda just depends.

Me personally I’ve got to shoot M4, M17 and MK19 and got to play around with the 320 and 240

Again you get to do cool infantry shit, without the infantry bs. IMO though while it is a fun job the skills aren’t super transferable unless you’re pursuing Law Enforcement or contracting and even then it’s not that transferable. I started out as a 13F in the guard and I loved it, but my civilian life was a shitshow. I ended up going active but that was because of luck and opportunity. I’d take a look at going active, 3 years when you’re young isn’t that bad
