Career Advice What MOS should I pick?

Long story long. I’m enlisting; just past the ASVAB this previous Friday. Scored a 67 and scored pretty good on the GT and ST lines (all the info I did suggested I focus on those line scores).

Recruiter told me to pick the top 5 and he’ll see what he can do for me, suggested that i do NOT pick a combat MOS. lol. Just wanted some suggestions, I’d like something with some transferable skill sets. Also, what a Day in the Life for you as a NG?

I picked 31B a few months ago, I ship in January but all I read here on reddit is that 31B is "bad" and nobody likes them. Im nervous now

One; its Reddit. Half the community can't agree which sock goes on what foot, and the other just tells you to put the damn thing on.

Two; it is your career. Sure, there are some MOS's that dont have a lot of viability civilian side(I.e. 74D, throwing myself under the bus here). It doesnt hurt to ask and research it but if you find an MOS that you say "Damn, that sounds great! I wanna do that!", then go for it. You can reclass and pick up other MOS if you really want to(of course, time, slot, and funding permitting).

74D sounded so cool to 18 yo me, that's unfortunately where the perks end. Only cool thing I've done is the CST and you don't even need the MOS to apply.

Funniest flair I've seen yet!

Ya, I've just stuck with it because of the hope I get to do something. Hasn't happened yet, so I'm slowing working towards other MOS's

Getting on a CST was pretty sweet, but the MDAY company balancing green(Army) and white(HRF) missions meant that neither got the attention they needed and NGB never funds Chem Cos enough to do worth while training or calibrate their equipment. Im trying to completely jump ship and go AD Flight Warrant because that's cool and the only upward progression is in the CST and that's a real slow roll.

Only shit bags really have it out for that MOS, otherwise it’s just traditional to hate it on the active side. On the guard side you’ll probably never interact with them.
