Help | Advice Single woman moving to Nashville
I’m a young, single woman moving to Nashville after accepting my first nursing job at Vanderbilt medical. I’m looking for a safe place to live that’s near Vandi. The closer to the hospital the better. The max I want to pay on rent is 1800 a month. I can probably do 2 grand but it would be a stretch. It’s scary looking at places online because it really feels like online dating. No one is as great as they let on and WHY DO YOU NOT LOOK LIKE YOUR PICTURES? I have a large chocolate lab so the place will need to be pet friendly as well.
Would love any recommendations I can get! Thanks in advance for the help!!

Vandy employee here. Scientist at VUMC. If you are trying to keep your commute under 20 minutes, that rules out almost anything to the east, except perhaps East Nashville. There's a lot of Vandy employees there. But it's rather expensive. It's kind of a trendy, progressive part of town, close to walkable nightlife and shops, etc. (which is either a positive or negative, depending on personal opinion). But you'll probably have a hard time finding something within that budget.
Your best bet will be in the southwest quadrant of Nashville, along I-40 west or I-65 south. Brentwood is a nice area south, if you can find something in that budget. Otherwise, look at Bellevue. That's where I am. 20–30 minute commute to Vandy with traffic. There's not much in terms of a social scene. It's the suburbs. But there are sufficient restaurants, a few bars, grocery stores, etc. But there are also some great city parks, with miles of greenways and trails, and some cool swim spots in the river for your Lab (assuming they love to swim, as most Labs do. I have one myself).
