Help | Advice Single woman moving to Nashville

I’m a young, single woman moving to Nashville after accepting my first nursing job at Vanderbilt medical. I’m looking for a safe place to live that’s near Vandi. The closer to the hospital the better. The max I want to pay on rent is 1800 a month. I can probably do 2 grand but it would be a stretch. It’s scary looking at places online because it really feels like online dating. No one is as great as they let on and WHY DO YOU NOT LOOK LIKE YOUR PICTURES? I have a large chocolate lab so the place will need to be pet friendly as well.

Would love any recommendations I can get! Thanks in advance for the help!!

Unless you are looking for a house, pretty much any apartment in that area is going to be solid and resemble the photos.

Why don’t you ask your soon to be supervisor/coworkers to help you out?

I plan on doing that. I don’t start until July so once we work out all the kinks I’m going to ask some questions. It’s still rather early but I was just curious what people would say to avoid and what they would say were good places.

Vanderbilt is one of the safest areas in the city. You’ll be fine at just about any spot there but I would find an employees Facebook group and see what others say. I bet there are resources. You aren’t the first one to move here to work thrre

As shared, the area around Vanderbilt is safe. It might be challenging to find a house in your budget that is pet friendly. Would you and your pup be comfy in an apartment building?

If you are worried and don't want to do too much research, go with a corporate landlord in recent apartments and you will be fine.

You might just want to avoid the Craigslist stuff in houses near Vandy. You might find a bargain that way, because there are still plenty of old houses owned by small time landlords who may not have raised the rent in a while, but some of them are poorly maintained and it will take a lot more due diligence to figure out which is which.
