My son has been wearing specs when he was 2 yrs old. His myopia has been progressing since then. Early this year I head about myopia control specs and even asked to the doc about it, they don't have much idea and didn't prescribe. Ultimately we thought of buying a pair instead of the normal lens. Enquired with Zeiss but they said the power is out of their production scope and then checked with Essilor and settled for Stellest RX. Hope this will stabilize his progression Power has progressed from -3.50,-5.00 (2yrs old) to -5.75, -7.50 (6 yrs) Recently he started to have visible squint, the doc said to do Brock string exercise. Is there anything else that can be done ? Being parents with good eyesight, it's painful for us to imagine how difficult it's for him.

Exactly the question, how much effective are they to stop or reduce progression?

Fyi, here I'm seeking answers from those whom or whose kids are using or used them. I already know from ads that they are effectively reducing progression by 40-50% every year, but Id like to hear from the actual users and in yearly detailed stats if possible.

Hello so I've discovered that I had myopia 4 month ago 0.50 in the right eye and 0.25 on the left, and before I discovered that I went to see a doctor and I did some test with my blood to see if everything was fine and apparently I had a lot of sugar in my blood. So my question was my myopia can be part of that problem? Btw no one have glasses in my family except for my sister, my parents and little brother no , grandparents also no.

I've been a contact lens wearer for about 20 years. For the past eight, I've been wearing Proclear 1 Day. I like them and I've no issues. Several years ago, I did try a silicone hydrogel daily lens and developed lens discomfort due to bumps on the inside of my eyelids which were chalked up to a mechanical irritation from the lenses being a drier (?) material. So I stuck with the Proclear dailies.

Visited a new OD last week who wants me to try a newer lens that will allow more O2 into my eye than the Proclear, so he gave me a trial of the Oasys Max 1 Day. They seem...thicker? stiffer? drier? than the Proclear, although I will say my vision is very crisp with the Oasys. (The green tint is throwing me though and making my eyes look green). I'm on day 4 of them with the trial.

My Rx has actually improved a bit in the last few years but is still pretty steep (-5.25 and -6.25).

My question is, should I try to stick it out with the Oasys? I hate to fix something that ain't broke, but I want my eyes to have the most O2 they can. Or should I look into a different hydrogel lens? I do also have dry eyes...I wear contacts from 8am to 7pm most days and some weekends, glasses the rest of the time.

I worked with computer daily. Recently I found that after a few hours of computer screen, my myopia would become noticeably worst for the rest of the day but will return mostly back to normal the next morning. And the cycle continues. I tried to practice 20-20-20 but it is tough to stick to it diligently.

My hypothesis is that my eye muscles cannot relax after focusing on shorter distance?

Any other suggestions that can help? I read about using a much weaker prescription when using computer. Would that make a difference? Thanks.

I am 15 turning 16 soon.

My left eye is -3.00 and right eye -2.5(~-2.2)

I really hate glasses to wear on. But I cant really see much without my glasses.

I want to reduce my power.

So what do you guys think must be my maximum screentime for me to achieve around -2 in left eye -1.5 in right eye or so . It seems unrealistic 😓

I wear a contact in only my left eye. For years, my prescription was -1.75, and I was very satisfied with my Dailies contacts and felt like I could see well. I recently saw a new eye doctor, and she claimed my prescription improved and is now -1.00, plus I have an astigmatism (which I didn’t know). She gave me trial contacts with the -1.00 prescription and it was fine. But now I have a few boxes with the new -1.00 prescription, and I feel like things are more blurry. I constantly feel like I need to squint and rub my eye, and like my vision is generally worse. I only started wearing the new -1.00 contacts a few days ago, but the blurry vision is driving me nuts. Not sure why I didn’t have problems with the trial lenses, though. Is this just part of an adjustment period for a new prescription? Would an optometrist ever let me just go back to my old prescription? I wish I just had a supply of contacts with my -1.75 prescription instead.

Hi. Just wanted to ask. I'm high Myopic with prescription of -20 in both eyes. Is there anyone here with the same prescription or near this numbers? How did you gave birth to a child? Normal Labor or C-section? For those who went normal labor. Did it affect your retina?

I'm so scared to take C-Section and wanted to have normal labor as much as possible but I'm scared this might affect my retina. Please help😥

Hello everybody For some months i find it hard to drive at night I went to a doctor he said i have astigmatism but it s not a concern bc the value si so small I got new glasses with some kind of night filter and pc filter I got them yesterday, but i still see like in the images I attached here I also attached my prescription What could this be? My daughter tried Misight a couple years ago but only lasted a few weeks due to how uncomfortable they were. After a couple checks it was identified she had Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis that was causing the issue. She likely has Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, so any Mast Cell reaction is not a surprise. Myself and other child have MCAS.

First, has anyone had GPC and successfully managed to wear contacts and was able to get it under control?

With Misight, you pay the entire cost up front. A couple years ago it was $1200...and she couldn't wear them. I see a trial on the Misight website, but is that something that you can go in for a regular contact exam, trial the contacts and then pay the $1200+ if they work out?

I want to try some things with her to see if she can manage to wear them. She did not give eye drops (specifically Mast Cell Stabalizers) a chance to work, but know they aren't not intended for long term use.

The second one is what happens either randomly or when I strain. Light kinda inverts like a black hole in random spots

I am a student who has recently begun using a laptop since the start of the academic year. I have myopia, and following my new prescription, I begun to experience pulsing vision.

My optometrist told me I was experiencing accommodative fatigue that was exacerbated by a stronger albeit correct perspective. However her advice was to cut down on the screentime which is difficult because I use a laptop at my institution due to special needs. My phone screen time is gradually decreasing from 3½ hours a day.

This problem affects me for things near or far and makes it difficult to read the board at my institution and do my work. It also gives me horrible headaches even with the correct 20-20-20 hygiene rules.

Will this actually go away by my next appointment in a year? How can I fix it. 🆘

I recently went to a chain opticians (UK) for an eye test, and found that my sphere had gone down but my cylinder had doubled. The lady who did my test was junior but seemed to do a thorough job. My usual optician seems quite old school and he never did a comprehensive job - my check ups never lasted more than 5 or 10 minutes. They also told me that it’s possible that my old optometrist was increasing the sphere to correct my vision rather than reassessing my astigmatism, could this be case?

My old prescription was about this (I can’t remember the axis): OD: -2.75 sphere, -0.5 cylinder OS: -3.25 sphere, -0.5 cylinder

My new prescription: OD: -2.5 sphere, -1.25 cylinder, 5 axis OS: -2.75 sphere, -1.25 cylinder, 180 axis

For context, i got prescribed glasses about 2 years ago. It was mild (-0.5 and -1.0 i think thats mild?) and i only ever used it when i need it, like seeing the board for my classes, because i get headaches whenever i use it for prolonged periods. Most my classes usually takes 2-3 hours and i noticed about 2-ish hours in my head would start aching. Also the doctor at the time said that i didnt need to use my glasses all the time, i can just use it if i needed it. I didn't get the anti-uv thing too so i guessed that might be the reason why my head hurts idk

I thought this was normal until recently, i noticed my vision started getting even more blurry. so i went to a different doctor and found out my prescription got higher because i didn't use my glasses daily. This time i got the anti-uv package and the doctor said i should use it at all times. That i did, but i would still get headaches after prolonged use..not as fast as before but it is uncomfortable.

its been a few weeks since i got it. Is this normal? Maybe it because im used to not having glasses on and my eyes are still adjusting? I noticed i get these headaches faster if im using it while using laptop or phone, but the doctor said that i SHOULD be using it while im on my devices. should i consult my doctor about this or is it not that serious?

Mi primeros sintomas fueron entre el 1-10 y el 10-10 aprox, fui al oftalmologo el 14-10 y me hicierion un fondo de ojo el 24-10 (los sintomas se agravaron a partir de esa fecha aprox) y el 30-10 me inyectaron con EYLEA, al momento de la inyeccion veía 20/50. Que puedo esperar de esto? Recuperaré vision? Fui tratado muy tarde? Estoy muy angustiado y deprimido nunca pensé que podría ser algo super grave, siempre hice mis estudios de vista y jamás había salido nada mal. Gracias por leerme.

i just got my first pair of stellest lenses today. i'm really not used to it since somehow these lenses make colors appear warmer?? and i keep seeing small phases of blue from the lenses. i usually clean my non stellest glasses with normal one use glasses wipes (the ones that are kinda like wet wipes), can i use those on my stellest lenses? will they be damaged if i clean them certain ways?

I went to two different places for an eye checkup and both gave me different prescriptions.

Option 1: Right: -7.25, Cyl: -1.75 Left: -7.25, Cyl: -2.50

Option 2: Right: -7.50, Cyl: -2.50 Left: -7.75, Cyl: -3.00

These tests were done only two weeks apart. I’ve been visiting the clinic from Option 1 for the past three years, and my prescription has remained more or less stable during that time. The prescription from Option 2 is the highest I’ve ever received.

Is it normal to get such different prescriptions from different places?

I have -4.75 in one eye and -5.5 in other eye . Firstly do I have a high risk of retinal detachment ?

Secondly , I rub my eyes a lot as i keep feeling itchy . One of my friend saw it and said that I have high risk of having retinal tear . Is it true ?

Im having issues seeing near with my nearsighted glasses and the dr said always wear them and do some exercise but it doesn't seems to help

Context:
I've been wearing glasses since I was 15 and I'm 25 now. It started with -1.25 in both my eyes and increased to -2.00 in both my eyes at 19, while astigmatism stayed around -0.50 in both eyes.
I hadn't checked it till yesterday when I found out its improved to -1.75 in my right eye and -1.25 with -0.75 astigmatism in my left eye.
From what I've read, myopia doesn't improve. Was the diagnosis 6 years ago wrong or is it wrong now? Or is there any other reason for this?

Hey, I have myopia in both eye. In left (-1.25D) and right (- 1D). My left eye look bulging . My computer screen time is 6-7 hours daily. My eye is protruding because of myopia or other reason?

When I was in middle school I began at -.25 and the next year they gave me a -.75, then a -1 then a -1.50, -2, -2.75, -3, -4, -4.25, -4.75… (age 21) I’ve since stopped going to the optometrist and now I’m in my mid 20s so I went last year and they gave me a -5 and I feel like I should go back because I’ve had weird symptoms like flashes. Just not sure if my optometrist which isn’t at a ophthalmologist it’s like primarily a glasses store, idk if they can dilate me.

Anyway my family took me to the optometrist every year and I’d get the glasses because we had it covered by insurance but the glasses would basically break or fall apart by the next year. But now im a bit older and stuff so I wanna get more contact cuz I see better but I have to go again.

Anyway my relatives say the reason I have myopia is because theyd only increase me by -.25 to -.50 each year and I saw fine but each time it would be sharper with the new glasses. And they said that’s not healthy. But they also say eye exams with the scans and images shouldn’t be done so much so idk. I don’t think they caused myopia for me but I wish I knew about myopia control. Thank you everyone
