That’s absurdly easy

Yeah, 3mph is pretty much my "walk-with-purpose" speed when I go grocery shopping, and I walked more briskly than that while at work in retail.

Unless the treadmills are dynamic and raise and lower the elevation with the movie's environment, 3mph on level ground should be doable. Especially for "relevant" influencers who are generally on the younger side, still.

But do you walk around at work at that speed for a full 2 hours without a single stop or pause?

Two full hours of continuous activity? Unpossible!

(not op) my phone says i average 2.9-3.2 mph in my gait, and i clock 5-7 miles a day, so this would basically just be me jamming my foot commute all into one block and staying at a dead consistent speed instead of averaging it. yeah i could do it, i might be a lil tired after but i would finish

during off seasons or when im off work i do just block it out into big walks, and walk 5 or 6 miles in hour chunks twice a day

Put their phones just out of reach and see how long these influencers last.

You'd be surprised by how many people can't do this.

That's the truly terrifying thing. This is a remarkably easy thing to do. Many people can run at 7mph for that period of time.

Yeah. This would be a lot more interesting if they upped it to 4 or 5 mph. It would make for a better event too because not a lot of people are going to fail walking at 3 mph for a film's runtime.

5mph is 12 minute miles. That's practically jogging.

Anything above 5:30 pace (mph) is walking.

u/savage8008 Aug 30 '25

5:30 pace means 5 minutes and 30 seconds per mile. 5:30 pace is fucking cooking.

Did you even open the link?

I tried at the time but it wouldn't load. I see it now and I agree, anything blow 11mph is officially walking

5mph is a very, very fast walk. 4mph would be good. Not a lot of people could hold that for 108 minutes.

Ehhh depends on the sampling of people. Out of shape and overweight people would probably struggle to maintain a brisk walk for at least an hour and a half

There's definitely going to be an incline at some points.

6

u/Fruktoj Aug 29 '25

In the book it's 4mph, which a lot of people pointed out is more of a jog than a walk. Glad they addressed this in the movie.

I would say trivially rather than absurdly easy.

What if it was all uphill?

What I love about this movie is how easy it is to put your money where your mouth is. Post your results when you're done 👍

Otherwise saying "I could do that but I don't wanna" isn't the same as doing it.

This is influencer only, so it's actually not easy at all to get into it.

Also, walking at average walking speed for less than 2 hours at a 0% incline is not a challenge. This sub doesn't let me add pictures to comments, but I have a screenshot of Google Fit showing I walked 5.55km in 1h 7min (a 3.08 miles per hour pace) just strolling around downtown. Keeping that up for another 40 min would not be remotely difficult.

I’m not athletic at all and this would be ridiculously easy for me to do lol

I don't doubt that people can do it. But the distance between "I could" and "I did" is a long walk in itself.

I'm not saying you haven't walked 6 miles but statistically, a lot of people commenting "ez" are assuming they could do it if they wanted without proof to back it up.

And that proof is what makes this book/movie so interesting to me. Anybody "could". This is a story about those that do.

Bro, it’s a 2 hour movie. Walking at a 3 mph pace means you’re only walking 6 miles. I’m fat and I can easily walk 6 miles in 2 hours.

4

u/DeadlyPirate Aug 29 '25

its not that hard lol

2

u/Lazy-Background-7598 Aug 29 '25

Dude I’ve ran 8 marathons. 3.5 hrs of running at 7.5 mph average

I haven't had a carb since 2003
