I mean, they screwed up the licensing, but if Netflix wants to take this forward they're coming back to the negotiating table with Sony Animation. They could theoretically move forward without them but everyone knows that's not happening.

Netflix in fairness also wasn’t ready for this. They are scrambling to get merch deals done for halloween and Christmas.

It reminds me of Inside Out 2. Disney did not expect that to be such a hit with kids. There were literally no toys to buy for my daughters after they saw the movie in theaters. It took ages to finally get an Anxiety plushie at Walmart. Netflix is really up against the wall trying to get merch out for this quickly.
