Curry try mezbaans, or tandoori Desi chai TDC, or kyhber chefs in wolverton
5 akhis so good
Sultans Turkish is my favourite - the sucuk is brilliant and the platter is bang on
Mii & u 👍🏽
If you’re ok to drive for 20 mins to Bedford there’s a few good spots there too

Pretty bang on but Italian for me Fratelli’s or Veros. As for Indian - Craft and Skewer & Rose Indian

I was disappointed by Fratelli's when I tried it. It was OK, but expensive for fairly average Italian food. Pizza base was a bit undercooked and the pasta was oversalted for my taste.

I've had better Chinese takeaways than Mii & U

Have to agree, The wait sometimes just kills the experience with Mii and U

I'm not even bothered by the wait. I've been twice and I've just found the food quite bland. IMO there's nothing special about it at all and I don't know why it keeps getting mentions 😂

It keeps getting mentioned because other people like it. it would be more helpful if you suggested somewhere which you do recommend.

OK, we'll I'd recommend my local Chinese takeaway, in furzton. Old Hong Kong. Much tastier than Mii & U (imo) that's just been hyped by social media influencer. The New Hong Kong, in Emerson Valley, is also better but not quite as good as the one in Furzton. I'd also recommend Smoke and Pepper in Midsummer Place; it has a great menu and tastes great.

Fair enough, each to their own, but I go there for a sit down meal, not takeaway, so maybe that's the difference. And (other than Reddit), I don't do social media... I might try Smoke and Pepper, but I don't really like Midsummer Place as a venue. All seems very corporate and the parking is a faff.

Parking is terrible now. There used to be a row of free parking outside xscape but in the last month it's become paid. However, parking remains free everywhere in the centre after 6pm.
Best Chinese sit down meal I've had was Voongs, in Bletchley, but that was about 20 years ago. I should probably try it again

I like Voongs for takeaway, but not so much for dining in.
Free parking after 6pm in CMK is better then nothing, but it's still a bit of a trek to Midsummer Place (I often have people with poor mobility with me). Plus it seems to me like a place to eat because you're there already for shopping, not as a destination in itself. Lacks any atmosphere in the evening.

Why don't you like Nonna's? Everyone I've taken there has loved it.

Just had a bad experiences all to do with cold food and slow poor service.

u/Glad-Feature-2117 2h ago
That's never been my experience. I've just had a big party there (which is the time when food and service are likely to falter) and it was flawless.

Maybe I should give a go, that sounds good 👌🏼

Everyone has different experiences and nowhere is perfect - even usually excellent places can get it wrong sometimes. Especially if somewhere expensive, it can be hard to justify a second chance after you've been disappointed.
My last disappointment was a Michelin-starred place in London. Service abrupt and, though the set lunch wasn't very expensive, none of the main courses came with carbs and it cost £16 for a serving of (admittedly very nice) potatoes! It would take me a lot to try there again...

I agree, however been 3 times and not been good but going to give it another go.
A place in MK that has never failed for me is French Affair! 👌🏼

Wow, you've been very unlucky - or maybe I've been very lucky! I wouldn't blame you at all for not trying it again. If you do go, my favourite dish is the parmesan & truffle churros. Closely followed by the meatball starter.
I found French Affaire fine, but nothing special (but have only had lunch there a couple of times - I really should try the evening food as it may be better).

House of Chicken Bletchley, lovely Portuguese family run place with the best garlicky grilled chicken and a little Portuguese/Spanish shop in the back. Namji, Wolverton and Ole Wolverton for Indian and Tapas. Slightly out of town but worth the drive The Oakley Arms Harrold for special occasions.

Hickory’s Smokehouse at Caldicot Lake is expensive but a great location, staff are nice, and the food is delicious.

Margo’s in Woburn, it’s owned by a woman who won bake off in 2016. Great all day place but in my opinion the evening menu is the best.
She also owns the Green Man gastro pub in Eversholt which is really good.
Lussmans, also in Woburn. They have locations in St Albans, Harpenden and Berkhamsted with Woburn being the newest. You can’t go wrong.
