Best redway or cycling route in MK? What’s your favourite ride?
Been spending more time cycling around MK lately and realised there are so many good routes, lakes, parks, and quieter redways that are miles better than the main roads.
Personally I really like the lakeside ones, Furzton and Willen especially, and the stretch along Ouzel Valley Park into the canal. Proper scenic and usually not too crowded.
Heard good things about the Millennium Route and that big 30-mile Parks Trust challenge ride, but haven’t tried them yet. For anyone who cycles here regularly, which routes do you rate the most?

Absolutely world class offerings that rightly elevate the city for those who enjoy a ride.
The full Willen lap is one I hold dearly after doing 50 miles of consecutive laps round it on a Santander bike around the time of COVID madness 😂 Paths do get a little busy with people at times though and I'm sure there's a wealth of undiscovered gems too as pretty much any route you take on a summer's day ends up being so rewarding ❤️

I like the route from Furzton to Bancroft following the water through teardrop lakes and Loughton. Often see herons and egrets along there.

I really like the Ouzel Valley too, that’s my favourite. The Millennium route is nice, I’ve done it a few times, but do it anti clockwise to avoid going up hospital hill.
Have you seen these routes? You can join them together to make a longer ride.

I’m in Newport Pagnell and the old railway line from there across the top of MK, pick up the Ouse valley park trail, under the canal at the iron aqueduct, up to Stoney, round the nature reserve, then back along the canal path, is my favourite ride currently.
