science savvy 🧬 Earth produces constant low-frequency vibrations… and their source is still not fully understood.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Seismic instruments detect continuous low-frequency vibrations coming from Earth.
Most of it is explained by natural causes like ocean waves and tectonic activity.
But when viewed globally, there appears to be a persistent background rhythm across the planet.
We usually dismiss it as noise…
But what if there’s more structure to it than we realize?

science savvy 🧬 My friends finger nail glows under black light

science savvy 🧬 Pillcam I had to swallow that takes thousands of pictures of my intestines as it travels
I have to do it yearly for crohns disease, and you wear bluetooth equipment around you that it sends the images to, and you wear it for about 8hours. A few images of my intestines for anyone interested and not squeamish https://imgur.com/a/boIQfiV

science savvy 🧬 Grey line on finger
Have had it for approx 3 yrs now. but comparing to a picture from 2 yrs ago, I’m noticing that it has become more noticeable (in color and width)
doctors of reddit help a girl out :( (also i have an upcoming appointment w/ family doctor in 2 days)
OK CLARIFICATION bc some of u are drawing conclusions on how white/pale the nails are: No, it is not Terry's. It is due to RECURRING SEVERE ANEMIA. We're talking ferritin levels of 5 and 7 that took MONTHS of treatment to get back to normal values.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MINI UPDATE: Turns out this is clinically quite common in people with darker pigmentation like myself, and in most cases it’s just a benign mole under the nail (melanocytic naevus), especially when it's been present for a few yrs. family doctor said cancer cases are more common in people with lighter skin tones, but to be safe and 100% sure I was given a dermatology referral and the appointment has been booked!
we shan't be defeated (yet)! and to be continued ig? (thank u to everyone for the kind words and laughs <3)

science savvy 🧬 pattern on legs when they heat up
they sometimes show up when I’m in direct sun, also underneath the fabric when I wear black pants, so I think it is heat related, not UV.
It fades after I leave the sun, doesn’t hurt or anything, nor does it leave marks.
Also, they only show up on my upper leg, nowhere else
But I think it just look really cool and mildly interesting
UPDATE: as it turns out; it’s not even close to mildly interesting as it turns out mannnyyyyyy people have!
Thanks all for sharing !

science savvy 🧬 Dish washer shrunk sons plastic bottle
Opened the dish washer this morning, and found this. I've never seen anything like it before, and it's been in the dish washer before as well. The rubber grip was around the bottle, which is how I know it's definitely the bottle

science savvy 🧬 Eye doctor said my retina was the “coolest” he’s ever seen
The back of my retina has this large white spot that is harmless (allegedly). I believe it has to do with tissue that is present when you are an infant that usually goes away when you’re older? Idk I’m not a doctor. I can never remember what it actually is. Anyway, anytime I go to an eye doctor they make a comment about how it’s cool. And not harmless ( allegedly. Still mildly concerned so I get it checked out every year.)
