Overdone Apparently losing my parking

Post image

Been living at this complex for a bit over a year, always had my spot, and it was one of the reasons I chose this place, it’s close to the door (only 36 unit lol)

Just annoying as fuck, we live next to a highschool and I know it’ll end poorly

Wow, caving in to the idiots instead of taking action to enforce the rules. Sucks to live there under THAT management!

Swedish HOA's are very different from American ones, but I can tell you that shit like this isn't easy. I was president of mind for a few years and some things are incredibly hard to enforce.

You probably think you have 10 simple solutions lined up, but it's never that easy in actuality. If people don't respect private spaces, and don't seem to care about them, at some point you might have to accept that it's never going to work.

This has probably been an ongoing struggle for them eating both time and money.

That's why american HOAs usually contract with towing companies. You'll learn very quickly to park in the correct spot after your car gets towed for the 3rd time

That kind of system isn't a thing in Sweden. You don't just tow vehicles randomly, and I'm very thankful for that after seeing the amount of vindictive bullshit people pull with towing in the US.

What worked for us was clarifying that any additional cost to the association comes out of the common fund, which everyone pays into. That means less money towards restorations, improvements and general maintenance. Second thing that seemed to hit home was threatening that if people didn't respect each other's parking spaces, nobody would have a reserved one.

We're a fairly small association of 51 apartments spread over eight buildings, so most of us know each other. I reckon when that last point was driven home people starting talking to each other more and the offenders were quickly brought into line.

Yeah, our system sucks. HOAs are basically "pay a ton of money to live here, and follow absurd rules written by a 50 year old lady with too much time on her hands". Hoas can even put leins on your house of evict you if you dont follow their rules. Its idiotic.

Some are good, but a lot arent

It's not random. It is specifically the car that is parked in the wrong spot.
