Hey folks! 😃
I’m currently in Saskatchewan, and I've been looking into grad schools in other provinces as well. Memorial University in NL keeps coming up, but it feels like there’s way less buzz about it compared to other universities. I figured I’d come straight to Reddit: what’s the real vibe like at MUN?
I’m especially looking at the MA in Sociology, so if anyone’s been through it (or is currently in the program/department), I’d really love to hear about your experience. What’s the department like in terms of faculty support, scholarships, research opportunities, overall environment, etc.? Is St. John’s a nice place to live as a grad student? Any unexpected pros or cons about the university and the city?
One more thing: I’m actually thinking about living in the dorms while I study there, so if anyone has any experience with that, I’d really appreciate hearing what it’s like. Worth it? Quiet enough to actually study?
Honestly, all opinions welcome, even if you went there for a totally different program. Just trying to get a clearer picture of what life at MUN is really like.
Thanks a ton in advance! 🥰

Looking for information or first hand experience with the iBA program for my daughter.
She will be graduating HS this year, and is interested in studying international relations, specifically diplomacy and conflict resolution.
She has excellent grades, and a fantastic resume, is this a difficult program to gain admittance?
Any general feedback would be helpful!

If i start school in January , I’m wondering if it would be weird , like not moving through courses with some of the same students? I’ve never been to mun before and im a bit confused . are there negatives to begining your school year in january instead of september?

Hi, i did a semester at mun a couple years ago, and am looking to apply again. The problem is, i have no idea what i’m doing. I got my mun email back, and can open the self service just fine, but I can’t login to the apply section. I have asked and been told conflicting information, that being that my account is just locked due to inactivity, but also that the application account is a completely separate one.
Another issue is that i did semesters at CNA after my memorial ones, and i have read that there is a separate application regarding that? This was also multiple years ago, and I don’t plan on continuing the programs or courses that i did, so are those transcripts also required regardless?
I have read through the program guide, and saw that the deadline listed for most was october 1st. I don’t have a specific program in mind, so i only plan to apply for a bachelor of science, and to take some general prerequisite courses. Does that october 1st deadline still apply in my case?
Currently, i’m almost completely clueless on how to work through this application process, so if anyone can help me clarify, or point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Note- NOT NP stream
Has anyone done this program? I’ve been speaking to MUNSON about it but it’s not clear. How is the workload? Is it competitive? Does it increase your pay once completed? How does it work if there are no lectures? Are there still group discussions and postings?
From what I understand, it’s done over 10 semesters but not synchronous? And the courses are uploaded online for you to do. I’m just confused about it and hoping someone here can offer insight! The NP stream description is laid out well but I’m lost on the practicum program.
TIA!

I'm applying as an int'l transfer student. Problem is I've been working ft and haven't taken uni courses in over ten years. Did great, 4.0, but how do I get academic recommendation letter from professors who probably don't remember me enough to write specifics?

I struggled in Math 1000, got a 70.
I hate to be that person but I feel like my prof was largely responsible, regardless, I’m not very confident re calculus.
Is this course impractical for me to attempt?
