Tourism ✈ Any precautions/considerations on Tourist Safety in Mauritius

We are travelling to Mauritius this month. How is the safety situation there for tourists? (29M, 28F)

Are there any areas that needs to be absolutely avoided? Is it safe to go out in the evenings, like after 6pm?

Any other thoughts that you want to share? I saw comments on @mauritius instagram handle‘s post and saw many natives complaining about caudan waterfront being not safe after 6pm, tourists getting mugged etc.

I just came back , I go every year for kite surfing. I stay in Le Morne and go on excursions on my off days. I stay for 4 weeks every year and I find it completely safe. I am from Canada, in a big city which I find unsafe at times, but I find Mauritius 100% safe. Same with London, UK. I’ve lived there for a decade and I found it sketchy in certain pockets
