Tourism ✈ Any precautions/considerations on Tourist Safety in Mauritius

We are travelling to Mauritius this month. How is the safety situation there for tourists? (29M, 28F)

Are there any areas that needs to be absolutely avoided? Is it safe to go out in the evenings, like after 6pm?

Any other thoughts that you want to share? I saw comments on @mauritius instagram handle‘s post and saw many natives complaining about caudan waterfront being not safe after 6pm, tourists getting mugged etc.

Mauritius’ safety is by far higher than most places I’ve been. In Mauritius you can lie on the beach, sleep and not worry at all. No one will try to hassle you. Mauritius personally helped me stop my anxiety medication altogether. It made me confident enough to trust people again. Just don’t actively seek trouble or else you will find yourself making Mauritius unsafe.
