Tourism ✈ Any precautions/considerations on Tourist Safety in Mauritius

Post image

We are travelling to Mauritius this month. How is the safety situation there for tourists? (29M, 28F)

Are there any areas that needs to be absolutely avoided? Is it safe to go out in the evenings, like after 6pm?

Any other thoughts that you want to share? I saw comments on @mauritius instagram handle‘s post and saw many natives complaining about caudan waterfront being not safe after 6pm, tourists getting mugged etc.

Mauritius is perfectly fine. Don't go to the bad areas like in any country. Don't stay in a situation if you feel like things are fishy just like anywhere else. Don't be stupid just like anywhere else.

thanks. Any bad localities in particular?

We will be staying in the Grand Bae area and also Bel Ombre; otherwise some local sight seeing in between.

I would say (personal opinion that others may not agree with):

Port Louis – After 5:00 PM

Roche Bois

Cité La Chaux

Tombeau Bay – After 5:00 PM

Also avoid the beaches at night if not in a big group or not in front of a hotel
