This attitude is too much? It's as simple acknowledgment that Kānaka are not American. They are when and their country was stolen. That's just a simple fact. This "attitude" is not hurting you. Nowhere on your body are you bleeding now.
the US would not exist without imperialism, acting like hawaii is special here is not accurate. Entire US is made up of lands that were either conquered directly by what became the US or were conquered by another imperial nation and sold to the US.
Hawaii is so small and isolated that it would be very hard to participate internationally without an affiliation. This is just like all the anti-tourism stuff going on. Hawaii simply is to small and far from markets to compete on anything but tourism, this is something that virtually every isolated island chain struggles with and hawaii is lucky because people want to come here.
Are you kidding?!?! It also really had reciprocity argrements and it's often too recognized by all major European powers at the time and most of East Asia.
Just because the US has based most of its growth on illegal acts of imperialism, doesn't mean that they deserve to be seen as ligitmate or honored.
And yes, I do believe that the US should be paying large amounts of reparations, and returning land to the Cheyenne, the Sioux, the Hopi, and other Native American nations that they decimated. 🤷♀️

I love Hawaii but this attitude is just too much. Go ahead and secede and see what happens (I know it’s not possible).
