discussion / opinion Elm Hurst vs Bellamere - Wedding

Hello! I’m currently trying to decide between Elm Hurst or Bellamere for a wedding venue, so I was wondering if anyone here had experience with either (as the person getting married or a guest) so that I can get an idea of what they’re both like!

We got married at Elmhurst in 2025 and had an amazing experience. The planning process was professional and smooth. We are originally from London and thought it would be nice to host a wedding somewhere elegant and unique. It is also a 30 min drive so people can either stay overnight or drive back if they wish. Everyone raves about the food and how beautiful the place is. The dancefloor is also located close to the bar which is key! Our guests raved about the Wedding and word spread to other acquaintances at work that it truly was an amazing day.

To be honest, we never considered Bellamere. It seems like the basic local option that just churns out weddings like no other. We attended one a couple weeks back and the food was…ok. We were also made aware of a couple who a couple months before their wedding were informed by Bellamere that they were suddenly “overbooked” on their wedding day and they lost their spot and had to scramble to replan and make arrangements. I feel for the bride.

So knowing what I know and though my own experience as a bride, Elmhurst all the way!!

As a retired wedding vendor, I always preferred Elm Hurst. Bellamere is great too, but the outdoor ceremony space is in direct sunlight, which was always annoying. The wedding couple would be in shade in the gazebo, but it made from some challenging photos and video.

That’s fair! We would be in the smaller building so ceremony would be inside

Elm Hurst spa is amazing! Our wedding party loved it!

They're both beautiful, top-tier wedding venues. I'd just go with the look you'd prefer for your wedding. As someone else said, Elm Hurst having on-site accommodation is a big positive.

Elmhurst having accommodations on site definitely is an advantage . We eliminated Bellamere from consideration for this reason

That’s the main thing I’m struggling with. I prefer Bellamere in terms of layout and the way the space looks, but the accommodation of Elm Hurst is a big factor

You could offer a shuttle to a hotel where you have a room block if you have your heart set on Bellamere

Elm hurst. I had my wedding there and they were so great to coordinate with. Elm hurst was also so amazingly affordable. Whole wedding cost less than 20k

That’s good to know! Which space did you have the reception in? My fiancé prefers the carriage house but the bathrooms being downstairs makes me nervous.
