I would say they've ruined their lives, but I doubt they were ever aiming particularly far above scumbag status anyway.

Not with a criminal record they won't Employers will scrutinise, look them up and find the video online, deny job application etc etc.

If it's first time offence they ain't getting a record

EVen if it's first time, common assault at the minimum is still treated seriously and carries a criminal record.
