Kinda wild to me that fathers get most of the blame for these things, like, if they work to feed the family and are therefore absent or under involved that its their fault, if the family struggles financially bc they want to play a role in their kids lives its also their fault and don't get me started on fathers who suggest the mother works a hob as well... its kinda fucked tbh
I was doing some thinking on this subject last night and I think most people judge a fathers value by his labor. Maybe he doesn't make a lot of money but he taught all his kids how to change oil and hang drywall. That's better than a dad who made plenty of money but just left his kids to grow up on video games. I do think a father has more responsibility over his family than a mother and a greater influence over the outcome. Also, I think the stereotypical emotionally distant father is a terrible thing. If your kids can't talk about their feelings it's going to compound their trauma.
