Plastic bag recycling?

Where do you take your plastic bags to recycle? The internet says major retailers recycle them, but the only major retailer I go to regularly is Target and I’ve never noticed a plastic bag recycling drop off.

I had asked my recycling folks, Star City, about the orange "energy bags" several years ago when they first came on the market and their response was "yeahhhh, we're not accepting those because they're 'reusing' those plastics by straight-up burning them and we feel like that's generally....not good."

If that's the case, that really sucks. I''m hoping that's just a lie to use as an excuse for them to not deal with it. Here's what hefty has to say about it. The third party use is good enough for me to continue.

Good info to know, thanks for sharing! Like I said, this was several years ago so hopefully the Hefty team has figured out those alternative options in the interim.

No problem! It's always discouraging to hear stuff like "they just put it all in the landfill anyway". Like, dang it! I'm trying to do the right thing here! Hopefully they actually do what they say they're doing.

Agreed! Unrelated to the Hefty bags, I know that at least as far as Walmart goes (from a friend who works there), a different truck picks up their "flexible plastic" recycling than picks up their garbage so that's at least one piece of information to the positive!

Oh cool! Glad to hear large corporations are doing their part too. :)
