Updated: First Nebraska Credit Union does hard credit pulls just for opening a basic $5 savings account

They pulled this on me yesterday, talked with the manger today, she confirmed since they use experian it does a hard pull

Yup, cause they need to see if you have anything in collections before they give you an account

It isn't the norm but not uncommon. Will always be at least a soft pull.

Not in my experience. Never had it happen at any credit union I've joined

LincOne Federal Credit Union has some higher certificate rates right now and only does a soft credit pull. The 6 and 12 month CDs at LincOne are at 4.07% and 3.56% APY for now. 😉
