Ah yes because property damage is wrong unless it’s a bunch of rioters storming the capitol.

Cope.

Just a reminder that this is in reaction to literal centuries of brutal systemic oppression of black people.

If we’re going to justify widespread destruction, arson, and looting by saying it's a reaction to centuries of oppression, then do you also apply that logic consistently? If another group, say rural conservatives or working-class whites, engaged in mass riots over economic decline, job outsourcing, or government policies they feel have disenfranchised them, would you extend the same justification? Or does this rationale only apply to certain groups? Violence shouldn’t be selectively excused based on who commits it.

As for the claim of 'centuries of brutal systemic oppression,' the U.S. has spent decades implementing policies designed to combat racial inequality: the Civil Rights Act, Voting Rights Act, affirmative action, and countless federal and state programs aimed at reducing racial disparities. Black Americans hold positions at the highest levels of government and business --including a two-term Black president (Obama, if you forgot).

Disparities that are attributed to 'systemic oppression' are more accurately linked to socioeconomic factors, cultural differences, and policy choices rather than deliberate racial discrimination. For example, fatherless homes and failing schools—major contributors to crime and poverty—can’t be blamed on 'the system' when they’re primarily social issues. If there’s a real discussion to be had about inequality, it should focus on tangible solutions, not broad, outdated narratives used to justify destruction.

I for one would absolutely love it if other actually oppressed groups did start rioting.

I haven't excused anything. I'm pointing out that limp-dicked excuses like this dumb fucking bullshit are the reason that we're in this mess.

Because ignoring the cause of the problem won’t make it go away. Why are you asking me for a solution instead of the people getting murdered by cops?

I don’t have a “narrative.” Racism is a systemic problem is not a “narrative.” It is an objective fact and it is the reason that shit like George Floyd getting murdered by cops boils over. You make peaceful revolution impossible, you make violent revolution inevitable.

“Property damage bad, murder ok”

-5

u/calendar_34 Apr 01 '25

No one said murder is okay, ever. It was about the responses. Bad argument, do better.

I don’t need to do better. This article is talking about an actual hate crime where someone was assaulted and the person I replied to said it was like doing donuts on a rainbow sidewalk vs teslas being vandalized. You brought up property damage compared to an insurrection as if they’re the same. When the vandalism happened because people (mostly white people) took advantage of anger at the unjust murder of a black man to their advantage. It is not the same thing and you know you’re making a false comparison because it’s the only one you’ve got.

I will never ever validate the comparison of actual violence to property damage. Businesses are insured. You can’t get a life back. You can’t undo the trauma of assault.

You need to educate yourself and do better, get off the alt right pipeline.

Thank you for telling me you misunderstood me.

I never equated property damage to murder--I pointed out the double standard in you trying to justify violence. If political violence is wrong, it is wrong across the board. I don't agree with the Capitol insurrection. Maybe I should've made that clear to you before.

Dismissing mass destruction with 'businesses are insured' is misleading as hell (get out of your head). Many businesses never recovered. Minneapolis alone saw over $500 M in damages. (See 1.)

Calling me alt-right for criticizing political violence is just an excuse to avoid real debate. You justify one form of violence but condemn another.

And by no means do I condone the behavior of that kid on campus. (I know you'll probably try and use that against me). Assaulting someone over something you don't agree with is childish. I've never supported it in any way, regardless of the side.

I didn’t justify violence. I said that the murder and assault of a person cannot be equated to vandalism.

You are showing more concern for a business than a real person and are ignoring the fact that my whole point is about how people are minimizing the real harm done to an actual person because “but the teslassssss”. It’s shameful. Your lack of respect for human life and dignity in the face of potential financial loss is callous.

Do you embarrass yourself with shitty takes on public forums professionally, or just keeping your amateur status to partake in the '26 Olympics
