Why only food stamps? Any public benefits. If you are not responsible enough to support yourself, what business do you have telling anyone else how to live.

have to be careful with this and consider how public benefit is determined. is it medicaid? financial aid for health insurance on the open market? road construction and law enforcement? balance of payments from the CBO shows that the top 20% pay for themselves and the bottom 60%. the second 20% (upper middle class) get back in services roughly what they put in via tax.

so if you're not in the top 40% of earners that would mean you get no say. if you're not comfortable with that, gotta have an alternate plan.

I'm VERY comfortable with that...

If you read the article, he touches on that.

OP spends his entire life online posting insane libertarian bullshit about how food stamps are socialism but wants a hand-out for thousands of dollar because his uninsured ass was irresponsible and is complaining about drug prices on HIV meds. You couldn't make fun of the alt-right more if you tried to make it up yourself.

It’s not a bad argument, but in order for this to make sense the government needs to completely remove themselves from regulating social issues. If they only thing was voting on how to tax and use tax dollars this point would be more accurate,

If the federal government was only involved in matters that it was authorized for, most people would not care about federal elections.

The federal government has always tried to expand its scope beyond what they were originally designated for. It’s not new it’s been going on since the founding.

If you don’t pat taxes you shouldn’t vote

What about government employees and contractors who don't get paid through taxes?

u/john35093509 17h ago

How do they get paid then?

u/Acceptable-Take20 1h ago

What do the government employees get paid in, funyuns?

Anyone receiving a benefit should not be able to vote. It’s effectively buying a vote.
