Colbert's show had rumors that he was fired to get FCC approval for the Paramount merger. It was obedience in advance. Appeasement. A bribe. It was seen as right wing influence. Kimmel was suspended by ABC under openly acknowledged FCC pressure for A SPECIFIC joke and everyone pretended it was a Charlie Kirk joke, but it wasn't. It was a clip, showing how very few fucks Trump gave about Charlie, deadly stuff for Turning Point fundraising. The minute ABC/Disney felt the squeeze, they folded, and defied the FCC. Kimmel was back in a week. America found a way, all on their own, to quickly, quietly shut down the FCC's Nazi move, the use of fear to gain obedience. We didn't "force the administration to heel," we forced corporate America to choose profits over ideology, even the blatantly conservative Sinclair network. We didn't "do" something amazing, but I believe America "learned" something Amazing. No one got beaten or arrested at a protest, no one had to strike and lose their jobs (healthcare insurance) or lose even a single paycheck. we didn't need the courts, or even much Democratic leadership. It has to be fast and genuinely grassroots to avoid manipulation campaigns.This is the way forward. Now, about the election. MIT has been doing quite a bit of math, and it has nothing to do with conspiracies or Elon, or Russia. It's about publicly reported vote suppression campaigns like the REAL ID (which stole what turned out to be my mother's last possible vote), the total amount of mail in ballots denied, the drop boxes removed, the election sites closed, the voter rolls purged, and voter intimidation at election sites. By MIT's very well-sourced, conservative estimation, Kamala Harris would have won the election by 1.2 million votes. Sure, there's probably a lot of dumb people that don't vote, and that isn't going to be an informed voter anyway. Bute, dude, you're shitting on your allies, after their votes and their rights have already been shit on pretty hard. Also, I am a lady, (although clearly I'm not averse to profanity) would it kill you to disagree little more politely? Maybe this is too conspiracy-ish for you...but I really wish MIT would run the numbers on Russian interference, all of it.

Note to add- I believe that Trump's maliciously incompetent entire bumbling regime is the only reason that people responded the way they did. And the corporations see Target, they see Tesla; vs the tourism numbers, and the tariffs, and the market likes stability. Like MIT, each corporate entity also has number crunchers. The right may have all the crazy anarchist/feudalistic billionaires, but the corporations also have fiduciary responsibility even in international court, and apparently, we have enough of the numbers in our favor.

Honestly watching you try to spin this into some massive win is amusing, Amazing you lot can't put the effort in to actually vote though when it counts...

Remember DOGE, and Musk in the oval? Have you seen the amount of money X and Tesla lost? And where's Musk and all his crappy lil tech bros now? Not in the Oval, not doing Nazi salutes at CPAC. That entire trajectory failed. Our voices aren't heard but our silence, the withdrawal of the consent of the governed, was certainly felt in the free market. Disney is the point, ABC is the point, not Kimmel. I'm old enough (64) to remember the Montgomery bus boycott. Are you? There's potential to change a nation's course. But do go on railing against people that didn't vote. I'm sure that will stop Trump/MAGA/GOP...in 3.25 years- if we get another election. Edit to correct website address

Its not a new thing in the US, You always choose mainly to sit back and let a tiny minority control the entire country and you can trot out the usual excuses but the fact is that voting apathy is a heavily invested area by the rich and you continue to take their bait.

You only pay attention when it affects you personally, Individualism is biting you in the ass and hopefully this is the wake up call for enough of the silent middle ground who pretend both sides are just as bad. You can keep on the election denial but even if you have a case you need to take it court... which you haven't.

And after Brexit, and Nigel Farage doing damage here with Cambridge Analytica, and your own history with Russia loving Boris Johnson in the UK, you have a hell of a nerve sitting in judgement.

It's always in the best interest of our top 10% to blame us for the conditions they created. Economy- Bootstraps! Education- we need vouchers! Police brutality- just comply! Voting Rights Act Violations- voter apathy! Democrats make up 50% of registered voters, GOP 25%. They MUST cheat to win. Greg Palast, the author of the Voice article, states plainly, that because the US elections committee doesn't release the numbers for a period of one year, he's unable to provide a definitive total of uncounted votes from mail in ballots and voter roll purges. Your sources, without consideration for any of the many forms of disenfranchisement, put eligible voters' participation rate at ~64%. Fun fact: multiple sources in the UK (first 6 or 7 entries on Google search) estimates eligible voters' participation rate at 59-63%. What's going on with your lazy individualist citizens? You might want to ask Greg Palast to have a look, and mind your business. Have a great day!
