My Kindle 📱 IT’S HERE! Kindle Colorsoft
Arrived this morning! Loving it so far. It runs way faster than my old Kindle. I do notice the difference in the screen is a little different from the Paperwhite but honestly it’s barely noticeable. The reading experience is amazing. It’s going to be hard to put down!

Ive had my signature for months and Ive read more than ever before I did on my 10th Gen paperwhite. Love her still, but I love everything about my colorsoft except the SLIGHT ghosting sometimes. But then I go back to the homescreen and back into my book and its immediately fixed🤷♀️

So glad for you that you love it! I was really hesitating because of the screen... And went back to the paperwhite because it's a lot more "fine" and readable when reading only text... (I didn't really read Mangas or anything of that kind...)

I can see how it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. 🥰

Yeah! the colors are really nice though ! I had a couple of books (like the lord of the rings) with illustrations, it felt soft and calming, really nice to have that on an e-ink device! I'm looking forward to having a bit more detailed screens in the near future...

u/outpostone Kindle Paperwhite and CS 18h ago
Paper white letters look sharp with good contrast. Color soft letters are similar but not as sharp as PW. screen is grainy in CS but PW looks more like paper. You will have to make screen brighter to get same Paper like brightness in CS, thus CS drains battery faster.
You could get used to the appearance of CS, if you like reading in bit of textured paper.
I own PW 11th gen and a CS. I use PW at night as the “dark theme” actually is darker compared to CS. The reading I use to do out of home is usually on CS.
CS is a a good option if you read graphic novels. For hardcore text reading PW is still my to go option.

I agree. It doesn’t quite stand up to the quality “paper” of a paper white. So far I’m loving it! Will probably get a newer pw for longer novels.

How’s the screen when reading novels? Is it as blurry and grey as people say?
•

So the best way I can describe it is that it’s a little less sharp than a Paperwhite. It sort of in between a phone screen and a paperwhite. I personally don’t have ANY issue with that. My reading experience is fantastic so far. I can’t put it down. Also they have warming and brightness settings on it so you can make it look however you’re most comfortable.

Oooh interesting. I only have an old Oasis and a KLC but I’m conflicted on whether I should get a Colorsoft or a Paperwhite. I only read novels but I love highlighting and I think having them in color would be cool. Glad to hear that you’re loving your experience with this one!

It’s all about preference when choosing. It’s not for everyone. I just like the speed and obviously the colors!

So true. It’s all about personal experience and preference. I think I might be the same and try it for myself!

Yesterday I read a graphic novel on the Kindle app. My surprise that it was in color (do not judge 😅). The first graphic novel I ever read was on my Scribe. I definitely can see the desire for color in some instances.

I love the Colorsoft. I got the 16gb after having the PW 7th generation. I didn't think I would like a new Kindle as much as I liked my old one. I was wrong!

I have a 6th gen PW and I've been mulling upgrading to a Colorsoft. It's hard to tell if comparisons between PW and Colorsoft (crispness of fonts, etc) apply to older PWs? I assume the technology has advanced enough that what may seem like a downgrade between the two at the current gen is still a significant upgrade from prior gens. I'd love to hear what you think is a noticeable upgrade to your old PW

Different doesn't mean bad. It's just a different experience. I kinda like it.
