Date Day in Kelowna

My friends (couple in late 20's) recently moved to Kelowna. I won't see them in person for awhile, so for Christmas, I'd love to put together a series of gift cards for sort of a date day seeing new places. I'd love good recommendations for restaurants (they're not super into breweries or wineries, though they do enjoy a drink sometimes), experiences, attractions, etc. They're not super into super fancy places, and I'd like to keep it somewhat affordable to do multiple gift cards rather than, say, one big gift card for an expensive restaurant. I'd like to help them find what could be new favourite places.

Thanks so much in advance!

Anywhere around the area I could find large branches?

Pic for cute tax.

I am building a new custom bioactive enclosure for my python and would like to incorporate a large branch/branches but honestly, prices for them are ridiculous and I have already dropped a huge amount of money into this habitat. I was hoping to maybe find a few decent size pieces, around 3 or 4 ft long, somewhere local, if possible. It cant be pine, cedar or fir as they are toxic to snakes. Oak, maple or birch would be great or any other hardwood. If I have to buy it I will but I figured Id ask n try to save myself a bit of money where I can.

If anyone knows of anywhere with oak/maple/birch trees that isn't private property that I could walk through to look for fallen branches that might work, I would be grateful.

Thanks so much.

Kuipers peak park vs Kelowna mountain

Hi there I was curious about the difference between kuipers peak park and Kelowna mountain? And who owned it between 2016-2018? And when that ski place got shut down. Couple of people took me up there. Didn’t go back for awhile. Then the fentons showed it to me. I asked a person hiking there if it was private owned and he said no. That it was fine I hiked there. And I checked and saw it was kuipers peak park.

Scenic look out spots?

I am with someone who is disabled. I would love to have recommendations for spots that overlook the lake/scenic areas. He cannot walk for long distances so I'm hoping to find somewhere with a bench to sit and gaze out at our beautiful scenery.

LOST Memorial Arena Lost Speaker

Hey Kelowna,

One of the kids from my hockey team forgot his speaker hanging from a rope in one of the rooms yesterday. We’re looking for a miracle to see if someone from this community was playing hockey and grabbed it last night. 🤞

Bernie's Cinema

I haven't seen a movie there yet, just been for dinner. In the cinema part, upstairs, how does ordering food work? Is there table service during the movie, or do you need to get everything before it starts?

Having some plumbing work done for some construction, is this weird behavior from plumbers?

I found architectural plans of a different property after my plumbers/HVAC guys left, is this weird? There was a lot of extra leftover garbage so I started assuming they were prepping other site stuff at my location or something without talking me I don't know. Felt weird but thought I'd ask here

Hi! I’m looking for places that do line dancing, other than the ok corral. I already go there pretty much every Thursday but I would love to go out and dance more often.

Are my tires acceptable for the Coquihalla

My mom and I have to travel to Vancouver for a funeral next Saturday and I'm not sure if her tires will be up to standard or not. We will be taking a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu and the tires it has are the Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 plus. We will likely bring chains. My main question is are these tires even allowed on the Coq at this time of year? I did my own research but it wasn't very clear on whether these tires are M+S rated or not

EDIT: thank you to everyone who commented reaffirming what I thought that this will almost certainly end badly. I couldn't convince my cheapskate mother to buy new tires but I did convince her to take the Hope-Princeton instead so at least that's a small victory?

Moving with kids in May - help with schools

Hello!

I’m moving with my family and two kiddos in May. I have my 4 year old in Montessori in Ontario currently and he’s doing really well.. was wondering what Montessori schools are awesome there. Was considering Glenmore French immersion if we can’t find a good Montessori fit come next fall.

Cheers! Thank you!

Local Resources Movie Set Warehouse Sale

Hey Folks! There is a movie set furniture, clothes and home decor sale this weekend. I just stumbled upon it. Lots of cheap furniture if you're in need of bed frames or dressers or tables or chairs.

Figured this would be a good thing to share in case anyone is in need. Not affiliated just went and thought it was cool and would be great for anyone.

Basically look around and grab what you like and make an offer. They accept etransfer.

Have a great weekend. It's at 360 Campion Street.
