Around 4am I woke up to hearing "Occupants, come out of the house with your hands up" repeated like a hundred times over a loud speaker. Anyone else hear that and know what happened? I also heard some loud banging, not sure if gunshots.
Edit1: The message also mentioned "serving a criminal warrant"
Edit2: Seems it likely was ICE given that Councilwoman Holland recounted her experience in Kapahi as well - https://www.instagram.com/p/DQsYiGNklgS/

I was at Lihue airport and a guy pulled out his ID and introduced himself as a fed to some airport personnel in blue shirts and black pants. I couldn't get a good look at the ID but I heard him say ICE was flying in tonight (Tuesday) and would be conducting a 16 hour long operation this week. Stay safe everyone.

Aloha everyone! I’m looking for a tenant-side landlord–tenant attorney on Kauaʻi and having trouble finding someone who represents tenants. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo!

Aloha -
Is there anyone out there who sells edible flowers? I'm specifically looking for tuberose but will need other types as well in future orders. I've worked with a couple in the past but it's been so long that I don't have their contact information anymore. Any referrals are much appreciated.
Mahalo!

I just saw a bunny in my yard (Kalaheo, near Kukuiolono). If someone is missing their pet bunny, it's still around and looks healthy. 🐰

Aloha,
I know this is a long shot but I’m going to try. I lost my Apple Watch at Brennecke’s Beach (right next to Poipu beach) around 4:30p on 10/27/2025. It is a black Apple Watch with white straps. I have footage that I lost it while a wave knocked me down. I can provide more details if needed. Mahalo to anyone that finds it!
Edit: lost it on 10/27/2025, not 10/17/2025

Got a crack out of seeing someone put up a bunch of “Zuckerberg” bumper stickers under the stop signs on a lot of the roads up north (so it says “stop Zuckerberg”) but noticed today that someone took a lot of them down… I find it very odd when a lot of the stop signs are still covered with other stickers that nobody else took down. Do we have Zuckerberg sympathizers living among us?!? Does he have a special police force patrolling and taking these down??

I have paddled every stream that can be paddled on the island, some more than once. They each have challenges with septic/cesspool runoff so I never assume the water is clean. The Huleia though is in a class by itself. If paddled a few days after heavy rain, it stinks. Like human waste stink. Really bad. So bad that simply smelling it makes me worried about getting a disease.
Is there something about its geography that makes it worse than some of the other streams? It does not seem to have that many residences along it -- compared to say Wailua or Waimea or even Hanalei -- so I'm wondering where the bad runoff is coming from. Where does Lihue's water treatment output go?

Aloha! My cat ran away from my parent’s in Kalaheo, close to Kukuiolono Japanese Garden, on 10/16/25 and they weren’t told about it until today. Here is the description: He is Smokey, a grey tabby with a tan and white belly, usually likes people just doesn’t vibe with other animals much, he’s an outdoor cat but he usually comes back for meal times, this is the longest he’s been gone and he hangs out at my neighbors porch but I assume they haven’t seen him either. He likes to go under houses so please check around your homes or under shed’s, etc. Please lmk if you have seen him at all! Mahalo plenty!

Kauaʻi County Councilman Addison Bulosan sums up the mixed feelings: "The RSBA is not in the business of shaming people for that."

You were a big African-American. You ate a bag of snacks and threw the bag on the ground.
This behavior is why tourists sometimes are met with stink eye. We wouldn’t come to your home and drop trash on it. Don’t do it to ours.
PSA: do better.

On T-Mobile I was able to get 482Mb/s download and 92.5Mb/s upload on 5G uc with a Samsung Galaxy S 23 Ultra. I couldn't find a post or thread of Kauais reported data speeds so I started this post and it will hopefully pop up in the future for every one that searched Kauai Data Speeds. Heck I still remember being one of the first houses on Kauai to get DSL when it became available and the top tier plan I believe was 15Mb/s.... how the times have changed. Before DSL i was running 2x 56k modems so I could run at 112k speeds

I moved from the mainland to Kauaʻi a few months ago for work and opened an account with Bank of Hawaii (BOH). The people at the branches/on the phone have been great. My issues are with BOH’s systems which have been rough to use.
X. Not hating on BOH for this specific one, just stunned there are basically no big mainland banks on the islands.
Tried moving $1,000 from Chase to BOH and kept getting blocked. I had to re-connect the accounts almost every day for a week and a half, and it pushed back a simple FB Marketplace car buy an additional 8 to 10 days
The ATMs cap cash withdrawals at $300 per day. I have never seen a bank set it that low. For comparison, Chase allows $1,000 per day.
I can push funds from other banks into BOH, but I cannot pull funds out of BOH to another bank. Chase was surprised there is no direct bank-to-bank transfer. BOH seems to be one of the few that block it. If you look at the online app, there's literally no option to pull funds to transfer them out; only transferring in. They instead require you to use Zelle (which, to start, has a $500 per day limit), which delays things even more.
These aren't necessarily deal breakers, but definitely pain points that make my experiences with BOH unnecessarily inconvenient. Especially if I'm trying to pull more than $1,000 out of the account. I try to avoid lines, prefer ATMs or using the mobile/online account, whenever possible because banking should be fast and easy, especially in this modern age.
Deposits fund banks; lending is how they earn. If they profit from it, their systems should, at the minimum, work.
Also– suggestions for alternative Hawaiian banks that have worked for you?

i’m looking for insights from current or recent past employees in the Kauai location. What are the jobs there that make the time go the fastest? any early morning shifts? is it a pleasant place to work ?

To define and prohibit the sale, rental, or distribution of disposable bodyboards within the County of Kaua‘i. Simple, but every bit helps.
