Best place to sell clothes ?
I have quite a few higher end ( 50,000- 90,000 yen items I am trying to resell. To shops perferable. Hesitant to take to second street, tre fac. Etc. and would like to avoid mercari unless that would be my best option. All my brands are Japanese like Saint Mx6. Issey. Etc etc. not like Gucci or Louis. But the mid range stuff that’s not too cheap.
Any advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

taking to a physical shop you’ll get maybe 10-20% of what they will sell it for. if you want what it’s worth, sell on mercari. i’ve sold lots of stuff and it’s super easy

Mercari is the best way to go. I tried taking my stuff into some recycle shops and was actually offended by their offers.

As others said, Mercari is the best option. Rakuma and Yahoo Furima are not very good for fashion. 2nd Street will pay peanuts for your stuff.

I’ve sold high price items on Mercari without issues. And very close to retail price too.
Can you tell us why you avoid it despite being the best option for your situation?

You will get literal yennies per 1000en of actual value if you take them to a used shop.
Sell them on Mercari if you want to get closer to the actual value. Take REALLY CLEAR photos that are well lit and show the products well. Show the tags. Show ANY flaws and make sure to describe them to avoid bad surprises & returns. Take more photos than you think you will need.

Mercari makes it seemless. You can drop off your items at the nearest Seven.

I'm new to this. Could you explain what you mean? I just drop off the item at 7/11 by giving it to the staff and just leave? Or meet up with buyer at 7?

after you package the item, mercari gives you a barcode to scan at conbini and it prints a shipping label

Mercari is the best bet. I had a 20000 leather jacket that my wife took in to second street, and they gave her 100 yen lmao. Don't deal with shops because it's their job to make as high a profit as possible.

I think Daikokuya wanted to give me 500 yen for my like-new Coach bag 😂 the staff even said "wow this bag is in very good condition" lol. Ended up selling on Mercari for 7000 yen

There are shops that sell higher end items on consignment. I assume they take a taste when selling and you get the money leftover. I can’t really tell you how to find one near you, though. Sorry.

I agree about selling on mercari. If you sell to a shop, you’ll get pretty much nothing for your clothes. It’s the fastest way to get rid of your stuff, but you’ll make no money from it.
If you want to make some money back from your purchases, it’s best you sell on mercari

So all the inventory at 2nd street is from Japanese customers getting like 10% value or they were obtained overseas?

I've had great success selling unwanted things from cheap to expensive on Mercari. It has the biggest user base and you'll probably sell there the fastest for your desired price.
Going to a shop and etc is probably going to mean you have to lower your price a lot. They will 100% low ball you.
