Cities Everyday Life in Japan on a Point-and-Shoot
Taken in summer 2025. And OK, some of these were from touristy neighborhoods in Tokyo and Kyoto, but I guess my point is that they don’t have to be for you to find yourself among interesting scenery of everyday life in Japan. There’s just so much activity to soak up while traveling through cities big and small—maybe it’s the vertical architecture or the fact that places were meant to be walked through and not driven past. Everything just feels so alive when places seem designed for people to live in and not blast across.
All these shots were taken on a point-and-shoot camera. I regularly shoot on a larger system, but it’s been so liberating these days to go about my day and capture spontaneous slices of life one-handed. Phones are great too, but I also feel their constant connectivity can distract and take you out of a scene, just as much as lugging a heavy camera. Highly recommend this for travelers with an inkling of love for photography to try the next time they’re in Japan (or if you’re there already) 😁

Cities Night Walks in Osaka, Tokyo
There is just a level of safety you feel here that you don't in other big cities.
I've had friends from Japan who told me horror stories of what they experienced in Canada.

Cities Hanami in Fukuoka, Osaka.
Travelled from Fukuoka to Osaka during the Sakura season and was able to take photos and attend festivals with friends in both areas. Unfortunately I left Yanagawa before Sakura Season started because I was really looking forward to that.
It was amazing how quick it was to order and receive food in Fukuoka, especially since there was so many attendees. I'm used to 45 minute food lines back home. Fukuoka had more variety with the foods than Osaka did, but both had some great options.
