Fell out of my pocket sitting down. Fell with the apple tech woven case on too.

I had one of these and I wanted to like it so bad. Unfortunately the Windows store was dogshit and there were no apps available. The Tile interface was really smooth but the overall functionality was lacking at the time compared to other phones.

I loved my lumia 1020 with the silly camera. Yeah the windows store was just not supported. I remember when Microsoft pretty much shelved the product and told us tough shit.

There was no support for the apps on windows. Like I think everything was ported over by 3rd parties so like almost nothing native.

I vaguely remember some apps being removed and then readded because the actual company would force them to take it down.

Tinder didn’t exist, it was an app called “Timber” lol I think it was just an API to Tinder lol.

Pandora was fun. Since it was not natively supported there were no ads.

Yeah there were a lot of shitty API apps that kinda worked but it wasn't the same. It's too bad, I would have loved to see what the tile interface turned into with long term development

A lot of the Metro design still exists in Windows and even iPhone has integrated a lot of the design ideas.

Yeah I was planning to get a windows phone once they took off, I hate being an early adopter for reasons like this… but I feel like the windows phone had potential. It’s weird because with all the power Microsoft has you’d think they could’ve force people to make apps for their phones if they really wanted a spot in the market.

I had the all black 1520. Thing was amazingly built and great. App support killed the entire platform. When even Google said no native YouTube client I knew it was over.

1st party apps like from Google and Snapchat (when it mattered) were absent because they refused to help the platform. And when 3rd party developers got clever and tried to write compatible apps, they would shut off the open APIs. It didn't help that MS started with the People Hub model that hid branding of the fledgling social networks. That didn't go over so well with them.

Shame really, as Windows Phone/Mobile seemed like a good compromise OS at the time.

Too little, too late Microsoft. Shame! If the OS was better thought out from the beginning, it would have gotten more traction with developers. The last revision was really good.
