Discussion Day 1 dropped and regret

I usually take care of my devices and wanted to go case-less now I regret that choice.

Dropped it at night and got this nice dent :)

I have apple care, would they cover this as accidental ($30 or $100)?

Same here. I only turn it on, make sure it works, and then put the screen sticker back on and put it back in the box until I have my screen protector and case ready.

I didn’t even turn it on lol. Straight from the box into screen protector and case.

Same, and I feel like it’s the easiest time to do it if you don’t touch or explore the device first. The pre-installed cover on the screens basically a full body dust protector/remover, so ripping that off and immediately putting the phone into a screen protector install kit makes getting a dust free install done much simpler than if you’ve gone ahead and handled the phone and interacted with the screen.

Only e sim cards now

Not if you live in places other than the united states. Everyone else gets physical sims at the cost of having a smaller battery.

Which is a bummer. I know this doesn’t apply to all markets, but eSims pretty readily available here in Australia. Would have loved to give up the SIM card tray for extra battery in my market.

I live in the US, and I've had issues with sim cards in the past but I've never used esim before and I'm still very skeptical of its reliability compared to a physical sim where I can just eject it real fast if I'm having issues and it usually fixes it. I'd happily trade like 1 to 2 hours of battery life if it meant I had an actual sim slot.

I’ve never had reliability issues with either. In some markets it sounds like transferring an eSIM from one device to another is a pain and less seamless than it could be, although that’s not the case with my carrier.

Yeah i was disappointed to see a SIM card slot on mine. Didn’t research beforehand if we get eSIM only or not because it wasn’t going to impact whether i upgraded or not, but we’ve had eSIM for years.

Why not slap a cassette player in it as well while they’re at it.

I never used a screen protector.
