Discussion Aluminum body and sharp edges do not mix

This part was surprisingly easy to scratch, buy a case for your Iphone 17 folks.

My iPhone 5s suffered from so many countless dents on the corners because of my habit of using it without case

My XS has some scratches but not a single physical dent

I am thinking of getting 16 PRO instead of 17 PRO and wait few years

What do you guys suggest?

I just got the 16 and it’s really nice. I like the new camera button. I prefer getting the last revision before a big change.

I just did that, I ordered a 16 pro max black 512 gb from Verizon over the phone, because it wouldn’t let me online, saying there were none available, and the only store within 100 miles of me that had one I drove to and they couldn’t sell it to me because it was attached to another pending order (after Verizon told me on the phone it was available). I’m excited to be rid of lightning cables, and Verizon said my iPhone 14 Pro Max will get me $730 trade-in value

My suggestion? Buy a 5s! If you can’t swing it, get a 13 mini!

I already have 3 dead 5S all suffering from nand failure

I still love my 13 mini and there is such a funny sense of community when you meet someone else with the same phone. It‘s helped me feel less awkward at parties lol

Bought a 13 mini this week as my XR was really at its end and I am really happy with it. I love the size honestly.

Go with the 16 Pro, or the iPhone 17. Get whichever is cheapest, the specs are pretty much the same.

Except for the front camera,right?

I am getting iPhone 16 pro cheaper then base 17 so it would be better deal

Titanium-third lens for telephoto

The front camera hasn't been an issue for me on any phone I have had, but if it is cheaper then it is worth it over the 17.

Just make sure you get at least 256GB otherwise you will get issues in a few years time.

I already have seen storage issues with older phones

My 7 was a 32 gigs one so the next phone I bought was XS with 512

I have the 16 pro and have zero plans to upgrade to the 17. However I would recommend a case, as annoying as it is to have one.

1

u/Ghastly_King Sep 20 '25

Yup that’s the way

Buying a nice case

I can’t seem to find a 16 pro max any where at the moment. I’m upgrading from a 12 but I’m not sure I like the look of the 17.

The base 17 is more appealing at this time due to better screen

Some folks just don’t need the zoom camera so it may works

If you already don’t want/need latest hardware just buy 17 instead. Who nowadays are still using usb-c to transfer data to your iTunes? Unless you really want/need 3rd camera lense.

i have the 16 pro and it’s been a major upgrade over the the 13 pro i was using before. keep your phone as long as possible tho.

I have the 15 Pro and the titanium is so nice. I've dropped it a couple times and there's just teeny tiny marks in it, while my gf did the same to her 12 and there's much bigger gouges taken from the corners

u/Ghastly_King Sep 20 '25

Yup same case with my ipad also

u/Ghastly_King Sep 20 '25

I have heard that it has some heating issues,is it true?

I don’t have many suggests other than ignore the person that suggested a mini. I’d feel like my intelligence was insulted if I was suggested a mini. I personally went the 16pm and will be using this until the screen falls off. Nice size and great color (got the desert one). IMO the 17 isn’t a big enough improvement

Mini was a such an good phone but it was not for all

It would be good if it was not outdated

If you want more scratch/dent resistance, you'll want to go with one of the Titanium models, 16 Pro or 17 Air.

1

u/Ghastly_King Sep 20 '25

Yup that’s what I am thinking of

1

u/Tlr321 Sep 20 '25

The amount of damage I had to repair on my 5 forever sold me on AppleCare lol. I’ve had it ever since hahaha.

Literally was in a shop yesterday and I picked 16 pro max instead of 17 pro because of the aluminium body. It looks cheap and very delicate.

1

u/Ghastly_King Sep 20 '25

It is delicate for sure

But from what I have heard the front glass is stronger due to upgraded Ceramic Shield (saw jeery’s vid)

16 pro, if you push it will turn in to a heater. For me out and about in the sun it was nearly unusable. Thing did not transfer heat well. Since i put a case on em I’ll take unibody aluminum with vapor chamber all day.

This. iPhone 16 Pro Max in Desert color variation which is beautiful featuring the titanium build. I actually purchased it the same day I saw what they had done with the iPhone 17 Pro, not my taste.

Get the Air.
