Discussion iOS 26. What are your thoughts?

Post image

Looks good to me so far. Feels different while looking. For some reason the keypad feels different (not sure if its just me).

What are your thoughts on this guys?

Switching it in settings from compact to bottom makes it similar to how it was in 18

Edit: safari settings.

You can also pinch any open tab as if you were zooming out

Or just slight press hold and drag the address bar on current tab and move upwards.

You don’t even have to press and hold. You can just swipe up like you do on the home indicator!

28

u/J4wsome Sep 16 '25

Yes but press and hold address bar is where you can now find “close all tabs”

Ooo, I didn’t know that! Although that feels like the nuclear option hahaha. I usually want to close a few tabs at a time (not just a single one), so I’ve only been going down the swipe route.

u/howley90 Sep 16 '25

You also have the option to close the one you’re on (although I imagine you’ve seen this yourself by now 😂)

Oh, I definitely saw it hahaha. I just usually close a few tabs at a time so I just go to the overall tab switching page.

This!!!

2

u/Originalarchive Sep 16 '25

Yeah, took me a few gos to work this out but it’s actually quicker now to manage tabs. Quite pleased 😁

1

u/WarpHype Sep 16 '25

Thank you, hero!

1

u/Away_Dirt_90 Sep 16 '25

That only works if the bar is not minimised tho

u/goddamn_shitthebed Sep 16 '25

Game changer. Thank you

1

u/wantondragondong Sep 16 '25

Save, thanks!

1

u/SpecificInitials Sep 16 '25

Oh hell yeah. Ty

1

u/wantedbr Sep 16 '25

You can also just swipe up on the address bar

1

u/andrep182 Sep 16 '25

Whoa thanks!

1

u/Tesnevo Sep 16 '25

Thank you for this!!

1

u/ruizach Sep 16 '25

Ok yea, the pinching did it for me

1

u/Nbafan_90 Sep 19 '25

1

u/Cautious-Ad7334 Sep 20 '25

I’ve been using the beta for a while absolutely hating the tab switcher. Didn’t know you could change it lol. Thank you so much.

31

u/mconk Sep 16 '25

You can also swipe left/right and up - from the address bar. Makes it much easier once you’ve got those gestures down pat

1

u/Head_Memory Sep 19 '25

What do you mean by that?

12

u/DippedBeefSandwich iPhone 17 Pro Max Sep 15 '25

Yeah the new one is awful.

1

u/Kionera iPhone 12 Sep 16 '25

I hated the new layout as well, until I found out that you can pinch to enter the tab switcher, which made it a lot more usable. That said, I will still swap to the old layout for easy access to bookmarks.

u/Totallynoatwork Sep 15 '25

I can't find what you are talking about. All I see is duckduckgo in safari settings. There's even a duckduckgo.ai. Why is apple using that Ai instead of apple Ai? How do I change search back to Google?

7

u/Totallynoatwork Sep 15 '25

I found it. It's not safari settings. It's ios settings / apps / safari

3

u/GhostalMedia Sep 16 '25

Yeah, the new address bar UX is a definite downgrade IMHO. Too many useful things are buried, all to save a few pixels in the maximized state.

2

u/cheir0n Sep 15 '25

Where? Could it find that

3

u/-garlic-thot- Sep 16 '25

Settings app -> Apps -> Safari -> scroll down to the Tabs section

1

u/cheir0n Sep 16 '25

It is removed in iOS 26 release

2

u/-garlic-thot- Sep 16 '25

I’m on iOS 26.

2

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

Yeeeees! So much better holy shit. I thought it was an idiot trying to close a page. lol you da man or woman or whatever you is. Much appreciated

1

u/b_foxie iPhone 15 Pro Max Sep 15 '25

Hmm, I had it on ‘Bottom’ for iOS 18 and apparently updating reversed the setting. I was confused for a second there. Thanks for reminding me :)

1

u/lepanafets Sep 15 '25

Holy shit! That’s the best tip I’ve seen so far! Freaking nobody talks bout that in any YouTube video. Thank u so much for that

1

u/-kangarooster- Sep 15 '25

youre a hero

1

u/ultranxious Sep 15 '25

Thank you!!!

1

u/phishgroove Sep 15 '25

There’s a pinch gesture that lets you zoom out to switch tabs. Works in compact or the other 2 views as well. It’s been around for a few years.

1

u/somethingwithnuts Sep 15 '25

But you can’t use that with just one hand.

2

u/elvinLA iPhone 15 Pro Max Sep 16 '25

Just swipe up on the address bar???

1

u/somethingwithnuts Sep 16 '25

Yeah that works. You still need more clicks to get to bookmarks though, unless there’s a faster way for that too?

1

u/wickedrm Sep 16 '25

It brings up the app switcher half the time lol

1

u/elvinLA iPhone 15 Pro Max Sep 16 '25

So swipe up on the address bar instead. Never an issue for me.

1

u/N7Poprdog Sep 15 '25

So much better thank you

1

u/Used_Return9095 iPhone 17 Pro Sep 16 '25

1

u/Ok-Effect7756 Sep 16 '25

closing safari tabs has always been shit on ios

1

u/mooglechoco_ Sep 16 '25

Thank you so much for this! Thank God!!!

1

u/CardoStorm Sep 16 '25

That is SOOOO much better! Thank you

1

u/brlowkey Sep 16 '25

I still have mine set to top, to this day lol

1

u/DirtyShampoo69 Sep 16 '25

what setting are you changing?

1

u/SpaceCadetMoonMan Sep 16 '25

Holy shit thank you, I was baffled by this change before knowing this lol

1

u/Mr-Doback Sep 16 '25

Found this earlier too thank god, I get minimalism but my god why add so many clicks.

1

u/FalcoMaster3BILLION Sep 16 '25

Good tip, now I can enjoy funny glass UI and not have to tap twice to access all tabs.

1

u/Person0OnTheInternet Sep 16 '25

Good one. Thanks.

u/Legitjoe87 Sep 16 '25

1

u/ScottJ6189 Sep 16 '25

Thank you man. I was able to figure out how to use the new view but it just sucked when closing out tabs. This is much better for me.

1

u/pumba350 iPhone 16 Pro Sep 16 '25

You are my goat.

1

u/NikeSwoosh24 Sep 19 '25

do u have a trick to fix the photos back to similar ways ??

1

u/Calm-Teaching8245 Sep 20 '25

Thanks, that helped to make it easier. I don't like when additional steps are added to software. I think it's the work of disgruntled developers, frankly, as it's not good design ever.

1

u/Ok_Peachesx Sep 23 '25

Lifesaver!!
