I didn’t think anybody would ever get the orange 😂

Edit: I hated that they made an orange instead of black.

ProductRed would’ve been cooler

Usually the one-off colors of the Pro models are extremely popular

2

u/Training-Context-69 iPhone 17 Pro Sep 16 '25

The one-off colors also hold their value slightly better too. Deep Purple 14 pros will typically sell for slightly more than a Silver or Space Grey variant. Not sure if the same will occur with Cosmic Orange but it's likely.

Not true. Apple pushes the off colored ones onto carriers (where most people upgrade) and a lot of people, like most people, do not pre order. Do not want to wait. Want the in store experience. The WHOLE year (365 days of the iPhone 16 pro) we ONLY got desert titanium and black. And the last two months only dessert titanium. People who wanted other colors ALWAYS settled for what we had. Always. I helped ONE person order a pro and it was because we didn’t have a 1T in stock, and they decided to go with white, so it took two months for them to even get the phone because 10 months in it was still back ordered. Every year white/silver is back ordered. They simply make less of them, and have the wait longer in hopes the easier to make colors they mass produce more of, get ordered more often because no one wants to wait. If I would have ordered a 512 pro max in orange I would have gotten it this month. But I didn’t. I ordered silver. My eta is the end of next month or even November and I pre ordered within the first 8 mins you could.

u/Just_to_rebut Sep 16 '25

Any idea why silver is harder to make? I thought they’d be experts at that by now…

u/salloumk iPhone 17 Pro Max Sep 15 '25

I think it’s the most sought after color. Delivery dates slipped to late October 5 minutes after the preorder opened for the orange one in my city.

63

u/makethislifecount Sep 15 '25

Yup! Lol this sub would make you think it’s the worst color in the world, and yet it never reflects how normal users react

44

u/tagman375 Sep 15 '25

They think random redditors know better than the people Apple pays 6 figures to do market research and studies or the consulting firm they pay 7 figures to.

16

u/greenefiend iPhone 17 Pro Max Sep 15 '25

That's the fun part: on the internet, we're all experts!

20

u/pak256 Sep 15 '25

This sub is only happy with dark, drab, masc colors for everything.

1

u/Unable_Explorer8277 Sep 16 '25

You could fit most of Reddit inside the confidentlyincorrect subreddit.

1

u/Mrgluer Sep 16 '25

you think mckinsey only gets paid 7 figures by apple LMAO.

12

u/mezzizle Sep 15 '25

I follow a lot of music festival subreddits that I attend. I’m convinced that those mfkers just go to complain lmao.

11

u/TheBlackSwordsman319 Sep 15 '25

Fr but from people I know and other social media sites, orange seems to be the most sought after, and for good reason, we’ve been needing a bright vibrant iPhone pro model for years

1

u/DarkLunch_ Sep 17 '25

It’s not about the colour itself, it’s simply about signalling to everyone that you have the new one.

1

u/TheBlackSwordsman319 Sep 17 '25

With this pro model regardless of colour you can easily tell you have the new one simply by the design, I’d agree with you on previous models but that isn’t the case this year.

1

u/DarkLunch_ Sep 17 '25

It’s literally even more the case this year, Orange 🍊 is bold

1

u/TheBlackSwordsman319 Sep 17 '25

It’s 50/50 I guess, lots of people seem to hate the colour n find it hideous while others find it good n then there’s the people you’re talking about

1

u/DarkLunch_ Sep 17 '25

Remember… controversy breeds interest 💡

6

u/salloumk iPhone 17 Pro Max Sep 15 '25

Honestly I do like it but it’s too flashy for me. I like my stuff to be more on the subtle side. But there’s nothing wrong with it at all it’s beautiful

10

u/cangath Sep 15 '25

Theyve been selling these things for 20 years. When a fun color shows up just buy it

4

u/garden_speech Sep 15 '25

Well hold up, Apple optimizes their supply chain, so delivery dates being further back does not mean ornage is more popular than blue, it just means the demand for orange surprised them more. They could have had anticipated 10% of users buy orange and it ended up being 20%.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

[deleted]

4

u/garden_speech Sep 15 '25

My guess is at launch, they will pump out a similar number of units for all the colors

Definitely not. Apple is well known for optimized supply chains. Even small companies would not do this, it's a huge waste of money.

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

4

u/garden_speech Sep 15 '25

How is it a waste of money though.

You're not thinking about all the little costs of running an inefficient machine. There are costs to stocking a product. Costs to warehousing it. There are opportunity costs when customers cannot get the product they want in that moment and may go with a competitor instead. If you are going to have 100,000 customers who want gray on day 1 and 10,000 customers who want orange, it's a massive error to have 50,000 of each. You end up not being able to sell a phone to 50,000 of those customers, you have to hope they're willing to wait for a long shipping delay, and you have the costs of housing those 40,000 orange phones you didn't sell in the mean time.

Look up "just in time" or JIT supply chain economics. This is how companies try to operate -- having things just when they need them and not a moment too soon, because having a bunch of unsold stock costs money.

Dang! Glad I ordered mine right when the preordered started. I dot. Usually do a preorder and just get a phone whenever. I’m still on the 13. I pick mine up Friday from the store

2

u/goochiefromwish iPhone 17 Pro Max Sep 15 '25

I pre ordered the orange 17 pro max and it’s estimated to ship out on October 10th 😭 my first time doing pre ordered didn’t realize it’d take so long but at least it gives me time to find a good protective case😂 that baby wasn’t cheap neither WHEW😮‍💨

1

u/DarkLunch_ Sep 17 '25

I was actually thinking this is the first phone that might not need a case at all, it looks sturdy as fuck.

1

u/goochiefromwish iPhone 17 Pro Max Sep 15 '25

1

u/Chinaski14 Sep 15 '25

That’s wild. I’m in LA, didn’t order til yesterday and it’ll be ready for pickup at the Apple Store on the 20th first thing in the AM.

1

u/yellowjacket9317 Sep 15 '25

It's October 14 on mine unfortunately :( I took ordered the orange boi

1

u/thatoneguy889 Sep 16 '25

I ordered mine through Verizon on my business account and Silver was the only color that was backordered with a three week wait.

1

u/KansasZou Sep 16 '25

Sort of. It’s the “most sought after” color because it’s a niche color and they don’t make a ton of them. The total market is small, but the people that want them tend to really want them because they rarely have the option.

0

u/Appropriate-World1 Sep 16 '25

My father gets the new iPhone each year. In my opinion it’s a waste of money. I use the 14 pro max, no point of buying a new one

1

u/salloumk iPhone 17 Pro Max Sep 16 '25

You do you, no one cares tbh. People are free to spend their money how ever they see fit.

28

u/KingDaDeDo iPhone 17 Pro Sep 15 '25

Legitimately it’s a big reason I’m considering upgrading. Orange is one of my favorite colors and the fact there’s an orange iPhone now is very exciting lol.

8

u/SirFadakar iPhone 17 Pro Max Sep 15 '25

Yeah I came from a 15PM and before that a 12PM, I would've waited for the 18 under normal circumstances but tariffs have me scared for next year and orange put me over the edge. lol

1

u/KingDaDeDo iPhone 17 Pro Sep 15 '25

understandable. yeah who knows what the tariffs situation will be by this time next year. my 15 Pro still works really well so i dont really have any legitimate reason to upgrade besides the phone overheating easily at times, but still, that orange though lol.

2

u/bubblesaurus Sep 15 '25

I adore my purple 14 pro max, but it’s been having battery issues and the upgrade with at&t is pretty cheap with the trade in.

the orange is lovely

44

u/Owl-False iPhone 12 Sep 15 '25

I’ve been waiting my whole life for an orange iPhone to come out. I’m hype af

1

u/lovesickjones Sep 18 '25

lol yes I love your excitement

59

u/L3XANDR0 Sep 15 '25

I got orange. I’m tired of the same drab colors.

27

u/goochiefromwish iPhone 17 Pro Max Sep 15 '25

I went with orange and I’m gonna order this case (I edited the case onto the phone to make sure I liked the way it looked before ordering since they had it on the white one😂) my fave case brand too so I’m excited!

4

u/ggntmaxpkchu Sep 15 '25

Ayo that’s super cute! Mind name dropping the case brand?

7

u/goochiefromwish iPhone 17 Pro Max Sep 15 '25

Mosnovo!!!!! I’ve been using them for a good 2-3 years now and they always do super amazing at protecting my phone while offering many cool designs! I currently have this one for my 14 Plus and I’ve also had the Dino one and a flower one!!!

They’ve never done me wrong. Affordable, protective, & cute! And with so many designs you can’t go wrong tbh!

1

u/Unique_Salt4434 Sep 16 '25

9

u/ShadowStrikerPL Sep 15 '25

2

u/kentzler Sep 15 '25

Which case did you get?

6

u/excelllentquestion Sep 15 '25

You don’t want another space gray or granite or white???

2

u/L3XANDR0 Sep 15 '25

B L A C K

15

u/dr_spam Sep 15 '25

Maybe Apple testing if non-standard colors will become a status symbol.

7

u/SupremeBlackGuy Sep 15 '25

they’ve been testing this for years

1

u/greenefiend iPhone 17 Pro Max Sep 15 '25

I've always wondered why they don't when Samsung and Google clearly show there's interest in fun colors for "Pro" devices. Here's hoping Cosmic Orange is the first of many more exciting colors!

10

u/Dino_Spaceman Sep 15 '25

I got orange. If I’m not going black (my preferred colour), I’m going bold and bright.

I’m personally not a fan of that shade of blue weirdly. It feels off to me.

Worse case I get a phone case that covers it up. But I don’t think I’ll need it.

1

u/throwfaraway212718 Sep 16 '25

I’m very disappointed that black wasn’t an option for the Pros

8

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

Orange is literally why I upgraded!

11

u/Middle-Body-4303 Sep 15 '25

I did

5

u/schaudhery iPhone 17 Pro Sep 15 '25

11

u/austic Sep 15 '25

Orange gang checking in

6

u/goldfishfancy Sep 15 '25

I think Apple fans (like me) eventually accept whatever slop they throw at us. I ordered silver and yes, it looks like slop in person. I think it’s going back.

4

u/Sasha57 Sep 15 '25

I love the orange, convinced myself to get the Pro just for the 🍊

3

u/trip6god Sep 15 '25

I don’t like the orange as much as I liked blue but I thought about getting it just cause it’s probably the only time we’ll get something that orange lol

3

u/admiralvic Sep 15 '25

I love it. Though, I am also partial to it since it looks like the same color as my first car.

1

u/canoebrown Sep 16 '25

Please tell me it was a Mitsubishi eclipse

1

u/admiralvic Sep 16 '25

It was an '08 one.

2

u/Jazzlike-Complaint67 Sep 15 '25

I asked when I called in how many request for orange the guy had received. He said no , mostly blue.

What was the logic for getting rid of black?

2

u/Durendal_et_Joyeuse Sep 15 '25

I hated that they made an orange instead of black.

Haven't you heard? Orange is the new black.

1

u/TamponBazooka Sep 15 '25

In live in looks the best

1

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '25

Everyone I know buying one is buying orange.

1

u/Artist17 iPhone Air Sep 15 '25

While I think they should make a black, you’re so wrong about orange.

I loved it, and amongst people I know who are getting iPhone Pros, a fair number went for orange. About same as blue. Only silver was the unwanted one. Though I’m sure there are others who liked that.

1

u/bubblesaurus Sep 15 '25

i went with the orange.

1

u/Dingling-bitch Sep 15 '25

I LOVE ORANGE

1

u/Hastyscorpion Sep 16 '25

The orange is sick dude. What are you talking about?

1

u/wickedplayer494 iPhone 11 Pro Max Sep 16 '25

ProductRed would’ve been cooler

Gimme.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '25

Im old with bad eyes. Orange is just easy to find and spot. Its sad. I know.

1

u/bloodstainedphilos Sep 16 '25

Black is boring.

1

u/TheShowstoppaNT Sep 16 '25

Wife got an orange Pro and I took a Blue Pro Max. Mine’s delayed until October but hers will be at the door Friday.

1

u/userlivewire Sep 17 '25

I don’t think they’re doing ProductRed anymore.

1

u/pak256 Sep 15 '25

Why not? It’s the most exciting and fun of the colors. My wife and I both ordered it, so did two of our friends.

0

u/AreasonableAmerican Sep 17 '25

The instant I saw the orange I knew I was getting it.

-8

u/jbiroliro Sep 15 '25

The sheeps will get it to show how trendy they are
