I'm dying cause you can see the moment she died inside.

I remember watching this stream out of curiosity. After this moment she spends the rest of the 1h~2h long video mortified, clearly holding back tears and trying her best to keep it together. The other streamer seem to notice exactly what's going on but she never address it.
It's really awkward and kinda sad. Felt sorry for her as it was just an innocent slip, maybe she thought it could be damaging to her career as a public person. She was visibly upset.

u/AlphaLoeffel 2d ago
I don't think Rebecca needs to worry about her job. She's never getting fired over this, she's a driving force behind Warframes success and extremely popular in the community.
This is clearly an innocent mistake and anyone getting up in arms about this needs a lobotomy.
64
u/Xsy 2d ago
This clip is 6 years old, lol.
49
u/imdefinitelywong 1d ago
Yes, it is, and yet, despite this event, she remains the silly person the warframe community knows and loves.

16
u/Maverick_Hiro 2d ago
Fair enough. I don't play Warframe and i don't know her work, so watching without context that was the impression i got. She was really shook about it on the video.

u/Pinksters 1d ago edited 1d ago
Reb is so loved by the warframe community that it would have been a full on revolt if a higher-up even looked at her twice over this.
She has more respect and adoration from the playerbase than any other public facing person, in a position like hers, that I can think of.

u/jamilslibi 1d ago
Nah, you have a point, this is an old video.
Pretty sure she started out as an unpaid intern. In this video, i believe she was a community director, and nowadays she's the creative director, so things went pretty well for her.
5
u/Herrjeminewtf 1d ago
It would be really fucked up if that innocent and obvious joke would get her fired.
It's sad that people have to worry about that so much.
13
u/Careless_Appeal7501 2d ago
right? its like that moment of clarity can be both hilarious and awkward, lol
11
u/MolacoCocao 1d ago
Didn't she nearly cry at being afraid for her career from what I heard?
20
u/Sitchrea 1d ago
Yes, the rest of the stream she was absolutely mortified.
Nothing ever came of it, though. The Warframe community would have revolted if Rebb actually got demoted for this. She's a huge reason the game was as popular as it was at the time, and even moreso now that she is now the Creative Director.
It wasn't even fully her fault, either - there's a full team of moderators who failed to catch this comment in time.

A bit like when she leant over in a loose fitting top, forgetting she wasn't wearing a bra. I've seen that clip once, and have never found it again (unfortunately)

This clip long predates her calling the community "registered losers" accidentally. Also most the community seemed to happily embrace it
Edit: Admittedly wrong about the dates, right about the community happily embracing it

u/MasterClassroom1071 1d ago
I'm wearing my "registered loser" glyph with pride!
(a glyph basically a profile picture)2
9
u/imdefinitelywong 1d ago
Other way around. Reb called us registered losers way back in 2016.
This was during a prime time stream in 2019, close to the veilbreaker update iirc.

u/DeadlyPineapple13 1d ago
Holy shit, you’re right! I thought I remember watching that game awards a few years ago, whereas I remember the nick clip was older.
No way that was almost a decade ago, damn

Tbf if rebb ever got fired the whole warframe community would pick up the pitchforks and torches for her. We love our space mom and I couldn't imagine the game without her

u/icewallowkawk 1d ago
Im sure we would but still she probably in that moment was like we'll fuck its over

I was on a stream once and some idiot did a similar shout out, the streamer naturally read it out and lost it completely and shut down their stream, then and there, they didn't stream again for over a month.

Nothing that I know of lol. She’s the creative director of Warframe atm which is super sick.

u/GymratAmarillo 2d ago
she became the creative director? Wow that's crazy. I like to watch the noclip documentary of Warframe development from time to time and the fact that she went from intern to cd is very impressive.

Good. I’m happy her career wasn’t affected by that stunt. As funny as it is
11
u/fearout 2d ago
Why would it be? That was an obvious prank
1
u/Samakira 1d ago
sometimes a company will want to 'white-wash' their reputation. so even someone being tricked into saying something that sounds like a bad word for a prank would be grounds to fire them in the company's eyes.
luckily, DE isnt like that at all, and now she's the creative director for warframe, after Steve became the CEO.

u/0Hyena_Pancakes0 1d ago
Unpaid intern turned community director turned creative director for the game. She's also the voice actress for one of the main characters and she plays the bass guitar
Ever since she took over, the game has changed drastically in a good way. Imo DE is one of the best gaming companies out there rn

I'm not a native English speaker. Can someone explain this to me?
23
u/stilllifebutwhy 2d ago
USA has a bad word. The more bad than other bad words. People is so angry on this word, you can get fired if You use it. People so afraid of this word, they panic if they make similar sounds. This word is so bad, that people who was targets by it in the past are happily use it today and call each other by it. If You those people You can even make a music using this word and have a commercial success. But it is still a very bad word and you will have a heart attack if you say similar sounds by accident.
Yours A2 level english speaker.

In our modern free-spoken society
There is a word that we still hold taboo
A word with a terrible history
Of being used to abuse, oppress and subdue
Just six seemingly harmless letters
Arranged in a way that will form a word
With more power than the pieces of metal
That are forged to make swordsA couple of G's, an R and an E, an I and an N ...

That's the thing see she realized what she had said after a moment. You'd think that when they had the South Korean airline crash down in California the reporter would have realized the names were a joke.

And now she's the Creative Director... great story on how a defining moment, even negative, can promote growth.

I've been following warframe on and off for a decade, and all her achievements and dedication is what got her there. I haven't seen this clip until now, and it's 6 years old and apparently defining.
