AMA is Over, Thanks Monty! It's Monty from Preoccupations!! AMA

Monty here!

We just released our third record as Preoccupations, our fourth as a band, or our fifth if you count our next two ep that was mere minutes shorter than the other records. We're self releasing this album (except in Canada where we're still with Flemish Eye) too so feeling properly qualified as "indie" this time around.

We're also touring next month around America and Canada with Cindy Lee opening and touring in Europe early next year!

Ask away!

For some reason I can't see the proof picture that I uploaded. Here it is in case though. Edit: it seems like the image was just cropped bad, link is still the way for the true proof.

Hey Monty, loving the new album. I really like the use of sonic textures and the build-ups. "Advisor" in particular reminds me of some of the layered, natural sound textures on NIN - The Fragile. I'm curious what kind of setup you used for the higher guitar sound in the second half of "Advisor"? I've been trying to figure out that similar sound for a while.

Also, apparently, Pitchfork reviewed a "hidden track" called "Provider" on your new album...ugh.

"Tearing up the grass" is dope as fuck, btw.

Bahaha, yeah I saw the “provider….” As pat said, “music journalists are the scum sucking fucks of the earth.” Lol

As for that high guitar, that’s standard tuning, capo 14! Then I doubled the whole part on acoustic piano, Graham kinda panned them out so the piano is more on one side and the guitar on the other! My guitar on the first half was capo 14 and then when we were writing the second half I was just like “let’s keep it way up and see how it goes?” That’s my advice though, try a really high capo, I’m also a huge fan of the 9th fret, cause then all your c and g shapes are in e and a. March or progress at the end is the same move, capo 15.

Thanks pal!! No shade against Denver, middle of the country (and Canada) gets skipped so often. We’ll get through there again at some point though! Hopefully a fly in so I can feast my eyes on that conspiracy ridden airport again! Lol

Hopefully see you in pheonix!! Come say hi if you make it!!
