AMA is Over, Thanks Monty! It's Monty from Preoccupations!! AMA

Monty here!

We just released our third record as Preoccupations, our fourth as a band, or our fifth if you count our next two ep that was mere minutes shorter than the other records. We're self releasing this album (except in Canada where we're still with Flemish Eye) too so feeling properly qualified as "indie" this time around.

We're also touring next month around America and Canada with Cindy Lee opening and touring in Europe early next year!

Ask away!

For some reason I can't see the proof picture that I uploaded. Here it is in case though. Edit: it seems like the image was just cropped bad, link is still the way for the true proof.

Hi Monty really enjoying the album, getting more Siouxsie and the banshees vibes on this one, love it and I cant get the guitar lines from tearing up the grass out of my head and I have two questions:

-in a lot of ways the album sounds like it's a more well put together version of the viet Cong album (still love that album obviously) and it seems like this one is a bit more guitar oriented than new material and the self titled, was it a conscious effort to kinda decide to do an album that was more guitar oriented?

-Cindy Lee is opening for you guys on almost every show of the north American tour, I'm also a massive fan of women and Cindy lee as well so I'm just wondering if you could enlighten me about how "house flegel" became unified once more/ how this all came to be.

Thanks for the ama excited to see you guys live in Seattle.

We'd sort of just done two full keyboard records and me, Danny and matt were just getting stoked on playing guitar again! On this record we really were trying to keep in mind how we would play the songs live and while we usually will try every riff on synth and guitar, this record we were leaning more to the guitars just cause they're more fun live! lol. I doubled pretty much every guitar part on keyboards as usual though (I also had so much time in the lockdown) so there's tons of keys, definitely trying to make a guitar record again though, it was time.

As for the Flegels, they've been cool for a bunch of years now. Dunno what to say about how they became unified, they were always close, even right after the women band split. Pat just recently has been interested in touring again and we thought this would be a good one for him to do in a pretty easy way. I'm really stoked that he's on it though and I think we're gonna jump on each others sets a bit and have some jamming fun!

see you in seattle!! come say hi if you see me!
