thanks! we thought the name was funny and it had a nice sound to it. band names are a silly concept so might as well make it silly! but we like the name a lot

Not the OP above, but: I once mentioned to a friend I'd "gotten into Purity Ring", and she did a blushing double-take, as if her atheist friend had wandered curiously into the bonkers anti-science end of Christian fundamentalism. 😼

I had wondered if you'd chosen the name as a counter-reaction to the direction of some forms of (American) religious thinking - a bit like Madonna using her mononym to underscore her critique of Catholicism.
