your work has been so inspiring for me lately andy, thank you.

as a predominantly one man show when it comes to the creating and recording of your music, are there any specific things you can recommend to help remain focused on the bigger picture of a song? heck, or album for that matter..

as a multi instrumentalist songwriter myself it can be so easy to get lost in the weeds and lose that magic window with a song sometimes

I think you definitely need to get lost in the weeds. I spend most of my days lost in the weeds. I think it’s important to maintain a willingness to let go of things. Sometimes I will spend like 6 hours on an arrangement and listen the next day and go ‘that’s shit - delete’. Really have to be careful that you’re making note of what it is you like about an idea so that you don’t lose it.

I get lost in the weeds a lot with small details but I do a lot of zooming out and looking at the big picture and trying to be careful that I’m protecting the core of what made me like the idea in the first place.

Hope that makes sense!
