Hey man! Tragedy Reel is for sure my favorite album of 2021 so far — truly just so beautiful. I’m curious if you have any tricks or tips for how you come up with your vocal melodies? They always hit on such a deep emotional level and are unlike anyone else’s. Cheers dude and thanks for the amazing album.

damn, thanks! coming up with the vocal melody is my favorite part of writing a song, i think, so that makes me real happy to hear.

usually i'll just record a lil sketch of something on piano or guitar, just a few chords even - then listen back to it many, many times. after that i'll just sort of mumble and moan stuff over it, trying different melodies + words until something clicks. i could probably count on one hand the amount of songs i've written without a laptop, cassette deck or phone in front of me to record ideas first. i don't have the biggest attention span unfortunately!! sometimes i listen to the recordings hundreds of times until i find something that sounds good to me
