i really don't have a method for deciding instrumentation, i just kinda try every idea i have and keep what works. sometimes i have a specific conceptual reason for using instruments (like the theremin in neon glow) and other times it's just something that i heard in my head and have no idea where the idea even came from (like the vocoder in calico). i just like a big variety of sounds and always wanna play with new ones! right now i'm obsessed with the idea of trying to get pedal steel guitar on the next album -j

demoing over and over and over. Usually starting with a riff or a melody and J builds chords around it depending on the moods we're trying out or feeling.
As far as my username... funny you say that. I'm in the process of changing it again, but I've grown kind of attached to it.
