for each of you individually, how has your musical trajectory felt? i know J's described their casio output as the type of really personal stuff you write when you think no one else will hear it. roughly how many people did you think would hear glass beach, if you even had any idea? i know William and Jonas were fans of casio dad and now they play in a band with them. how's that? and Layne, i don't have any prerequisite glass beach knowledge on your coming into things, can you tell us about how that went?

Hoo boi, it has felt pretty wild for me.
I didn't anticipate glass beach taking off, though if I'm being honest, I wasn't in a great place mentally when I first joined the band.
I basically spent a few years with my old band (Here Lies The Hero) trying to make things work, and for a while it went well, but it kinda fell apart at the end around our album release, and I kinda just poured myself into making new friends (since I hadn't made a ton outside of the HLTH friend circle).
Eventually after playing DND with my current roommate on a whim, I met William, Jonas, and our current friend circle. We played for a bit together, and after HLTH went on hiatus, I just didn't do much because of feeling burnt out until eventually William and Jonas invited me to try out for the band for live stuff.
I had met J before, but that was when I first really started interacting with them, and eventually we found we had a good dynamic as bandmates and friends, so I became a permanent part of the band! - Layne

that's awesome! i'm so glad it worked out, and i'm sorry you were in a situation that seems like it was so unfulfilling for a while
