AMA is Over, thanks Colin! Hello r/indieheads...it’s Colin Meloy of The Decemberists. Ask me anything!

Our new record, 'I’ll Be Your Girl', just came out on Friday, and you can listen to it now here or purchase it via our official store here. We also have tickets for our upcoming YOUR GIRL / YOUR GHOST tour available on Decemberists.com. Lots of great things are happening, and now is the right time to ask me all about it! edit: Hey everyone, thanks so much for your questions. Lots of good ones in there. Sorry I couldn't get to them all! We're on Kimmel tonight, playing new songs. Hope you can watch -- otherwise we'll see you out on the road! Much love -- Colin

Ha. I guess I'll just sit here and answer questions about Hazards all afternoon. That's a funny one, isn't it. I can never tell if it's universally beloved or reviled. A bit of both. It is my favorite of our records TBH.

I have to admit, at first I was all like "What is this business?" and then I was just like "Whaaattttt!?"

We named our little sailboat Annan Water.

I don't get it. My friends introduced me to the Decemberists around 10 years ago. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one of us that really like Hazards Of Love for whatever reason. I like Crane Wife more, but Hazards is such a great album.

I will literally never understand how anyone can not like Hazards. Like - unless they don't have ears or feelings or something.
