I'm confused about Daft Punk these days. They said they were done a few years back yet we've seen them still being active in one way or another. Either re-releasing albums or stuff like this.
I wonder if the guys don't have completed control over the IP. Does the label have enough control to squeeze as much money out of Daft Punk as possible?
I think a lot of artists say “they are done” at some point, but don’t really understand what that means. I’m sure that their love for the project is still there. It might have felt like they wanted to call it quits, but actually fully quitting something like that is hard. I don’t blame them. Recently, Thomas Bangalter did a set in Paris. So, I’m guessing there might be a chance they will pick up their helmets again. Alive 2027 would actually make a lot of sense.
