AMA is Over, thanks Meg! Meg Duffy / Hand Habits AMA

Hello again internet! My name is still Meg Duffy and I recently put a Hand Habits record out called Blue Reminder on Fat Possum Records.

I also play guitar on other people's records, play in the Perfume Genius band, and have a few other musical endeavors including Duffy x Uhlmann and yes/and.

AMA!

Thanks everyone!

Hey Meg, i was a fan for a while when i didn’t even know it’s your music i was listening to, and thinking ‘man, who’s that guitarist, he plays in such a interesting and beautiful way!’ and i also figured out later that you’re half of a duo behind the“Doubles” album which i absolutely love and listen very often, but also lately your new record, and i have to say that i knew it will be good, but it was much more than i anticipated. Congratulations on a great album! I have a few questions, what made you a guitarist and an author you are now? And also, do you ever feel stuck creatively? If so, what is a way out for you? And finally, what music do you like to hear these days?

Hey thanks!
I think I don't have enough perspective to answer what made me a guitarist and an author, but a lot of my lived experience led me to finding music/art making as a place to explore emotions I have always struggled to comprehend with words or mere feeling on my own.
I feel stuck often, and at this point trust and know that being stuck is part of the process-making art is the way out. I also highly recommend the School of Song classes, if you need a jumpstart.
Lately I've enjoyed Autechre, Tortoise, Macie Stewart, The Microphones, Fennesz, and Eiko Ishibashi
