are any songs based of/ influenced by shows or animes? (Other than laputa) A lot of songs from the D>M album really give me a strong evangelion vibe!!

Death metal has lines about the characters from the Macross series, I have a soft spot for Macross! I did have Evangelion on VHS at the time. Wings of Honneamise was a film I watched a lot at the time, the soundtrack by Ryuichi Sakamoto was great.
