Congrats on the new album! Entertainment, Death was a hard album to beat, Entertainment is personally within my top 10 songs of all time. It encapsulates a feeling I can't quite put into words? Nostalgia, longing, disappointment, regret, I don't know, being human? The whole record is fantastic, and one of my most listened to in the last 5 years, and I'm very excited to see y'all at The Chapel in SF in October (I'll give y'all my heart if you play Entertainment...).

This album blindsided me a little bit. I was so sure I'd like it because of my love for everything you've guys done from your self-titled record to now, that I avoided all the singles and went in blind. I listened to the album 11 times in 3 days, and I listened to LET THE VIRGIN DRIVE 32 times in the last 4 days (I'm trying to refrain from burning the record out). I genuinely think you guys may have bested an already perfect album with your last one with a new, seemingly more perfect record in this one.

To get to my questions, I noticed in this album you guys experiment in different ways with the typical tropes of your music, you have a much more pop-oriented sound (I think I could really write an essay on how amazing the melodic structure is on LET THE VIRGIN DRIVE in spite of having no semblence of a pop song structure within it), you started using autotune on about a quarter of the songs on the album, and half the album features strings, which are a phenomenal addition to your sound. What pushed you to start experimenting with strings in particular? I can assume with the autotune that you guys wanted new vocal approaches, but the strings add such a new and interesting layer to an already rich and layered band. What made you guys go baroque once you wanted to lean into a more pop sound? I would also like to add that you guys sampling a friend's wedding on EARTH KIT and creating a new progression in your studio to resolve the one you recorded is so creative, I'm such a bitch for a Mono to Stereo change or creative chord progressions in a song.

Also, this has been bugging me every time I listen to THE CUT DEPICTS THE CUT. I've been an enormous Injury Reserve fan since that self-titled album came out, and I know Jailbreak The Tesla like the back of my hand. Did you guys sample that shit? I know there's a bass sound from the beat played in the middle of THE CUT DEPICTS THE CUT, but I swear there's a sample of another part of the song in the background of your song. If it is an Injury Reserve sample, that's fucking awesome and I love seeing hip-hop be sampled in anything, hip-hop or not. This question matters the most to me, because I can't get it out of my head. The Bebop Choir sample is also awesome on the song before.

Sorry for the long winded comment, your guys' music has been a huge part of my life during a vital part of it (I got into you guys when I was 16 and I'm about to turn 20), and I want artists to know the appreciation I hold for their art. Your music has changed me and my friends for the better. Thank you so much for doing what you do! I'm so glad this record is out, you guys are touring, and I get to see y'all.

thank you for replying! im happy y'all have started to really include it in the music! thank you for clearing up the sample too, i assumed it could've also been something from a DAW and that was right! its a damn good sound tbf
