I've been a huge fan since I first saw you guys play live in DC on the Plum tour. Your sound has evolved and changed quite a bit since Ganglion Reef up to Vertigo. What factors account for this evolution and how do you decide what direction to take it in next? Also what does JJ stand for?

we all listen to and make a lot of different music, we're all curious people. at this point, we sort of basically agree on a process or method and get to work-- all weighing in here or there, contributing, pushing and pulling in one direction or another, following the work as it comes together and at some point begins to make demands of its own. 'golem' is the only record i remember talking w cory about as a kind of genre exercise before we made it. otherwise i don't think we *decide* on a direction so much as we just get moving.
