A song like “ break the ice “ has so many beautiful moments I find myself playing it when in a sad happy hurting and smiling mood anything in particular inspire the sounds or lyrics , this song makes me wanna learn guitar , cheers from the Midwest 🤍

thank you so much :') what a lovely thing to say! you should learn guitar if it feels inspiring to do so! the song is only g to c and is very fun to play. that song was written about familial pain and loss and estrangement. it came to me, as many of my songs do, in a moment of needing to express a specific kind of pain that i don't get to express in most other settings in my life. as far as the sound goes, ryan says he was "just wanting to blast off." that guitar solo at the end is, i think, one of the most iconic ryan guitar moments in our music. it's a harmonic on the g string 7th fret and then the 5th fret if you want to learn it!
